3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dominating hop aroma. Tea colored with a thumb thick white head. Ample hop presence, but flavor wise it is mostly just a bitter affair. Very resin tinged aftertatse. The kind of resin associated with hopís cousin cannabis.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled from bottle. Pours a slightly hazy copper-gold with a lasting, off-white head and remarkable lacing. Aroma is wonderfully hoppy: floral an grapefruit. Flavor is one-dimensionl as the hops (floral/pine resin) create such an astringency to obscure almost all of the malt profile. Medium-bodied and nicely carbonated. Wonderfully bitter IPA that would be much better if some of the flavor addition hops were removed (aroma and bittering addions are wonderfully done).

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Had this a while ago. From the bottle, so not the best case, but very nicely hopped. Very enjoyable for a hophead. Not much else going on here, but thats okay with me.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
04-Jul-05 (12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with bkelley68, thanks Brian!) Consumed 4 months before the "best by" date, Iím a bit disappointed in the nose. Moderately hoppy and lightly malty, thereís also some spoiled vegetal aroma creeping in, and while itís not nauseating or anything, itís definitely a distraction. The flavor is nicely balanced, lightly sweet and malty early, with a fairly mild and bitter hops balancing out the beer in the finish. Medium bodied, lightly carbonated, smooth on the palate. Clear, amber color. Off-white head rises to nearly an inch in height after the pour, and as it slowly settles (and I continue to consume the beer), a fairly solid curtain of lace is left on the glass. As the lace condenses, itís very reminiscent of ice crystals that form on a window during a cold winter day. This is certainly not what Iíd consider a hoppy IPA, at least not by west coast standards, but the balance is excellent, and the flavor is pleasant. A nice, easy drinking IPA is what we have here.
15-Aug-05 (Draft: Horse Brass Pub in Portland, OR) Just a quick update about the nose. Once again, that spoiled vegetal nose is present, so it wasnít the bottle. Whatever they do with the hops, it just has a weird aroma. Otherwise, all other facets are pretty decent. No changes necessary to the ratings.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: FEB 18, 2007 Rerate: I initially rated this when I was a beer novice. At the time, the beer really was impressive. I revisited this beer at a head to head IPA tasting and the beer was more malty than I expected. The malt and hops work together well for a clean flavor. Out of the 10 beers we sampled this one finished 6th. Still a good drinking IPA, not top of the line when compared to its peers, however.
Bottle: Nice thick off white head. Orange in color. Very fruity aroma. Citrus flavors come through. Can taste some malt, follows with a nice hoppy aftertaste, not too bitter though. This is one exceptional brew! Original rating: 4.4

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
From the bottle.
This one pours a surprisingly light golden with a moderate though short-lived head. The aroma is a picnic of marmalade on whole-grain toast in a pine woods. While the flavor is pleasant enough (if not particularly intense in either its hop or malt profiles), the palate is a bit disapppointing - watery, and overly carbonated. The finish is of dry, slightly metallic, cut-hay hops.

On tap. Aroma of fresh hops. A really hoppy, in the citrusy and grassy way, IPA. Maybe not very well balanced, but since i really enjoy hoppy beers, this one really rocks my socks. Some malt in the finish but otherwise, its a little off balance.

I was suprised to see I hadnt rated this, but thanks to a great SS, I now can. Real nice up front IPA aroma, sweet citrus aroma but a decent malt textrue. Mouthfeel is a realy blast. Oily and viscous until the sharpness kicks in then I taste the nice malty backbone. Solid beer, nothing amazing, but a top notch session.
