COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our IPA recalls a time when ales shipped from England to India were highly hopped to preserve their distinct taste during the long journey. The result, quite simply a hop lover’s dream. And this classic ale adds a fruity aroma, set off by a dry malt middle, to ensure that the long hop finish is one you’ll remember.

Pours a mid gold with a billowing thick white head. Aroma features big bold raw hop aroma, slightly dusty earthy hopsack note. On the palate there is biscuity sweet malt, tangy grapfruit and a smooth ballanced finish. Im sure I remeber this as being more bitter in the past.

12oz Pour $5.00 Goose Island Clybourn Goose’s IPA was served in a straight tulip style glass. Poured a dark golden hinting at copper with a bright white one finger head. As the head fell to a thick cap it left sheet lacing down the glass. After every sip more sheet lacing was left leaving the whole glass opaque as the beer was put to bed. Goose Islands IPA had more of hop presence than expected. There is a solid biscuity malt with a touch or two of caramel showing through but the hops do manage to ease them from the picture. The hops come throgh very fragrant with floral overtones and citric undertones. Very nice aroma. Flavor runs right along the lines of the aroma. A semi-sweet pale and caramel maltiness start things off and just barely manage to keep some balance in the flavor. The hops aain are the showcase. Vibrant floral and citric hops with a touch of the resinous-ness (Ha-Ha) take over and create a very welcomed hop profile. Medium bodied with a carbonation on the sluggish side of moderate. This beer works through on it’s own to let the vibrant hoppiness show through. I honestly could session this beer with no problem at all. If I didn’t have other things to do today I would probably still be sitting there drinking IPAs. A great IPA from Goose Island that, to me, seems very underrated. I have sampled bottles in the past and they weren’t quite as vibrant as the fresh tapped version. 10/20/07

Orange with a small, persistent white head. Grapefruit and passionfruit aroma. Very thick textured, there is a little bit of grapefruit in the flavour, but the taste is mostly a hop hit. Curiously I also detect a small amount of honey sweetness. However that is probably just a psychological association with the colour and viscosity.

Bottle... Clear golden ale with a small, creamy, white head. Excellent retention. The nose is very much like that of instant Lipton® iced tea with lemon. Medium toffee sweetness followed by moderate citrus peel bitterness. Medium-bodied with a 2%-milk mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Bitter-sweet and then astringent, drying finish. Kudos to Gillard for sharing the bottle!

Pours a clear orange, with a small white head. Smells of citric hops, some grapefruit, and some musty malts are there too. The flavor was a mix of hops and citrus fruits. Grapefruit was the most prominent fruity character noticeable. Pretty nice little session IPA. Easy drinking and enjoyable. Mot surprising with this brewery.

UPDATED: OCT 14, 2007 Tampa RB Gathering Beer #12....dark amber body with a small, diminishing white head....nose of pine cones, floral hops, grapefruits, tangerines and lemons....flavor is big on the hops, but well balanced by a caramel sweet malt backbone....medium bodied, oily resinous palate....medium length, bitter, piney finish....good IPA

Very interesting aroma of floral, fruity and herbal hops. Pours a dark golden color with a medium white head. Robust flavor of fruity, herbal hops with malt with a dry, bitter finish. The body is medium with a creamy texture and soft carbonation.

A very good hops aroma from the start. A slightly orange pour with a light white lacing. A beginning flavor of decent malt not much on the finishing bitter until you rub your tongue around in your mouth to wake it up. A bit of a hay flavor on the finish. Palate is thin but carbonation is good. A very odd beer in that it didn’t have any bad flavors but it was odd. I didin’t score it low because the flavors were not really bad just odd to me..

Fruity and grassy hops in the nose. Nice malty taste quickly followed by the dry bitterness.
