Bottle (GBBF): Light copper with a beige head. Huge hoppy aroma. Medium bodied. Sweet citric hop flavour with some nice caramel and spice behind. Nice beer.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
The requisite pine and citrus aroma, leaning towards grapefruit, wafts from this hazy deep golden ale with orange highlights. Flavor is pretty zippy but leans toward the overt bitterness with citrus skin harshness covering up some moderate fruit, a little fuzzy with pine resin burps. Not my fave IPA but drinkable.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours transparent red tinted amber with a medium white head that sticks around. Aroma of fresh pungent fruity mildly citrusy hops and a solid toasty slightly caramel malt backing. Flavor is of citrusy fruity hops and a solid toasty caramely malt. Very nice balance. Medium body silky ever so slightly viscous palate. Aftertaste (and the burps) are a very nice fresh hoppiness and gentle malt sweetness. Very nice IPA.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled @ GBBF 2005: Golden coloured. Clear. Beige dense head. Herbal and chocolatish aroma. Flavour is very "american". Hoppy flavour like herbs, flowers, grains and some light spices. Is bitter and fruity in the end, and has a good lasting on the palate. Good one.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Plain, light orange body, barely a head at all. The aroma is delicately hopped, slightly fruity and earlthy. The flavor is a little weak, but its a nice balance of hops, malts and herbal notes. Finishes thin, but pleasantly.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
I was just in the midwest and, since this brewery was so ubiquitous, I pretty much passed it by for the more obscure beers - now that I can get it in NY, I figured I would give it a shot - I’m kind of sorry I didn’t get some more of their beer when I had the chance - strawberry blonde color with minimal head - aroma of pine, grapefruit and cedar chips - crisp and quite balanced - not very "heavy duty" compared to a lot of other IPAs, but it is a damn fine product.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
This one is so common to my area that I think it often gets overlooked. Goose Island brews a damn fine IPA. It may not get the attention of a stone of Dogfish Head, and this may be justified, but, it is very close to the elite IPAs and it is relatively inexpensive and always available. It pours amber and pretty clear, has good hop aroma, and very good flavor, and a very good dry finish. Overall-very solid, a GREAT session beer!
