3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: MAY 17, 2004 On tap
Reddish-copper color with a nice head. Caramel maltiness with spicy, citrusy hops. Raisin-y undertones. Pleasant bitter aftertaste, light-creamy mouthfeel. Great session brew in my opinion. It's an average, quality IPA.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JUN 16, 2004 Re-rate: 13/6/04 Tried again (3 bottles) whilst watching England narrowly lose to France at Euro 2004. Much better than I gave it credit for, and better than the highly enjoyable Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Refreshing and a real good, hoppy hit. // Original rating [3.1] - This looked like a nice drink, and, indeed was. An initial burst of citrus favour gives way to an extended bitter alcohol hit, and aftertaste. Quite nice.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Quite clear for an India Pale. Nice orange color to it with a lot of carbonation. There is a cream quarter inch head with some nice lacing. Definite grapefruit peel smell to it, quite citrusy and bitter smelling. Quite bitter flavor as well, but inoffensive. Good but I think that I like the flavor of the Avery IPA q bit better.

Oh my Proteus, this is an actually GOOD IPA made in Chicago! Hoppy and strong, with a surprising citrusy finish, this is a beer I'll buy again (it also helped that the six-pack (bottles) was on sale at Krogers for $4.99)!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Amber coloured. Very hoppy aroma with notes of peach-flavoured ice tea and honey. Lots of good bitterness in the flavour.

This is everything I hate about IPA's. It has so much promise but leaves that bitter after taste which just turns off many tasters. The first sign that this is not going to be a pleasant experience on how fast the head disappers.

3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Slightly hazy golden yellow body. Quickly diminshing white head with no lacing.
Hops dominate the aroma but there's also an underlying sour malt aroma too.
Lots of hops with a nice hint of malt. Sweet with a lingering bitterness. Simple.
Medium-bodied with a crisp finish.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Citrus hoppy, lemon, orange. The hops do not jump out at ya, they are mild but this is rather smooth and drinkable. Nice session ale.

My favorite out of the bottle although tasted at Clyborn Brewpub. Goilden with a heavy white head. English malt is very pronounced and nicely paired with american hops (goldings and centenials perhaps). Fairly bitter with a floral and pine nose. I like this IPA
