Our IPA recalls a time when ales shipped from England to India were highly hopped to preserve their distinct taste during the long journey. The result, quite simply a hop loverís dream. And this classic ale adds a fruity aroma, set off by a dry malt middle, to ensure that the long hop finish is one youíll remember.

Orangey pour. Big rush of hops right off the bat, but the aromas seem to blow off over time. Mild malty backbone coated with piney hops. Thin bodied. Very similar to the Hopscotch, but the APA seemed fresher.

Pour is a nice hazy orange with almost no head. Aroma is a fine citrus-pine. Flavor is outstanding. Lots of grapefruit hops with a nice malty backbone. A very tasty IPA and at a reasonable price. Bottled or on tap this is a good one.

Pours a light clear amber with a decent off-white bubbly head which dissipates quickly and leaves some lacing. Somewhat citrus nose, decent amount of hops - long finish. Light mouthfeel, refreshing. Nice summer drink.

Clear red gold amber with a medium sized white head. Citrus and floral hop aromatics. Pleasing bitter and citrus hop flavors complemented by an equally present hop sweetness. Rather malty finish. Mouthfeel is medium light, somewhat sticky.

This one had drifted past its best before date without my noticing, but seemingly none the worse for that. Hazy (didnít realise its bottle conditioned until I poured it) orangey colour. Thereís pine in the mix but this seemed more citric (grapefruit and bitter orange) and less resinous than some other US IPAs Iíve tried. Refreshingly sharp, but not excessively so. Quite a classy little number. Bottled, from Safeway.

On tap at brewpub. A little overcarbonated in my opinion (I think it was on nitrogen, which I donít really like), and not as hoppy as I like my IPAís. Probably true to British-style IPAís, but not exactly what Iím looking for. Has a nice amberish color, reasonably hoppy nose and flavor. Nothing spectacular, but a solid IPA.

Foolishly, I often overlook this brew at the store. But, for the price, it is truly a special find. Citrusy and very well hopped, it is an IPA loverís dream. Always fresh, this one will become a standard in my fridge.

Poured a clear amber with a moderate white head. Good lacing. Aroma was citrus fruit with some pine notes. Not as pervasive an aroma as I would like. Light-to-medium malt backbone, with a citrus hoppiness providing much of the flavor (mildly spicy, too). Very smooth mouthfeel, and quite easy to drink. Medium, pleasant hop finish.

UPDATED: AUG 8, 2008 Bottle. Pours a nice clear amber color with little head. Smells of hops, citrus, and pine. Taste of hops that dominate the flavor leaving the malt to clean up in the finish. Very smooth and drinkable and leaves you smacking your lips in the finish from all that hoppy bitterness. The hops are so floral and remind me of Cascade but Iím not sure if thatís whatís inside this wonderful IPA.

UPDATED: NOV 16, 2005 Transparent amber with a creamy, off-white, filmy head. Citrus aromas crossed the board: grapefruit, orange, lemon. Firm flavor, starting with equally present sweetness and bitterness, finishing long and bitter with an oily mouth-presence.
