Our IPA recalls a time when ales shipped from England to India were highly hopped to preserve their distinct taste during the long journey. The result, quite simply a hop loverís dream. And this classic ale adds a fruity aroma, set off by a dry malt middle, to ensure that the long hop finish is one youíll remember.

12 oz bottle. Hazy rich golden colour. Thin white head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, light sweet fruity hop nose. Spicy and citrusy with a touch of pine as well. Beautiful orange/grapefruit flavour mixed with some soft spiciness as well. Well-balanced and very tasty IPA.

Standard IPA. Amber color with a medium whtite head. Smells hoppy and piney. Taste is standard some hops with slight malt notes. Short hoppy aftertaste. Fine but nothing to write home about.

Tap at Holy Grail in Cincinnati. This was just listed as Goose Island, with pale ale in parentheses. But, since the rest of the selection there was mostly BMC, Iím guessing they meant it was this one. (If anyone knows for sure, please correct me if Iím wrong) Poured clear and golden with a short head. Good aroma of grassy hops and citrus fruit. Flavor and mouthfeel were pretty well balanced and complex. Tons of dry-hopped goodness along with lemon and orange citrus, a tiny bit of malty sweetness and a little oakiness thrown in for good measure. Goes down dry and crisp. Overall, very good.

I forgot to inventory this so in turn I have forgotten who sent it to me. Thank you, whoever you are. Poured an effervescent golden with a fizzy white head that dissipated completely. Aroma of clean hops and a touch of citrus. Taste is light and hoppy with some lemon. Not much of a malt backbone to this one, just refreshing hops. Body is average and well-carbonated. Although this felt a little watered down to me, it was tasty and clean.

Grapefruit on the nose, and very strong in the flavor. Hints of sugar in the malt, nice balance. Nice hop finish, yet crisp and clean.

Moderate to heavy aroma of Cascade hops ó grapefruit and pine. Also notes of floral hops. Flavor of citrus, bitter grapefruit with a bit of sweet orange and toasted malts. Slight sour aftertaste to go along with the bitter bite. Crisp as an IPA should be. Nicely done.

BottleGolden copper color, thin sticky head and fairly retentive lacing. The nose is fairly hoppy with cascade type varieties. A bit floral and grassy but not too assertive. The malts gently come up to greet the nose as well. The flavor is heavily caramelized and toasty with a solid mouthfeel and rounded balance. The finish is smooth with a light lick of bitterness as it rounds the back 10 but is missing the usual ping of flavor. Like if you forgot to add salt to a dish, itís all here, but just not. A good IPA; not focused on the the guns and with a level foundation.

GABF 2005. Full head, clear yellow body. Light sour hop aroma. Fizzy mouthfeel, with dominant hops that fade to a bitter and long finish.
