Our IPA recalls a time when ales shipped from England to India were highly hopped to preserve their distinct taste during the long journey. The result, quite simply a hop loverís dream. And this classic ale adds a fruity aroma, set off by a dry malt middle, to ensure that the long hop finish is one youíll remember.

Bottled. Pours a medium golden color with traces of orange. Somewhat sweet crisp hop aroma. Bitter right up front. Quite malty as well. Finish is slightly bitter. Reminds me of an extra hoppy English IPA.

Decent sized fluffy white head. Light carbonation. Lots of fluffy hops floaters in there. Light carbonation. Nice and hoppy aroma. Light citrus with a nice balance of malts. Hops araom fades pretty quickly. Little vegetal now. Color is a cloudy dark orange. Flavor is sharp bitterness. Very dry and puckering. Not how I remember it. Bitterness overpowers the malts. Grapefruit rind, and spices. Finish is dry and very bitter. This could have been much better and I think that it is. This bottle may just be off a little bit.

Bottle (12oz). Thanks to my friend Dave B for this one. Poured slightly hazy orange-amber with a decent creamy white head. Aroma of solid pine/citrus hops, a bit floral, some malt. Taste is tingly resiny grapefruit and lemon zest hops, enough malt to balance it, crisp bitter almost dry finish. Average body, lively and astringent mouthfeel. Soild, if unspectacular, IPA.

UPDATED: OCT 8, 2006 Bottle. I did not get a very pronounced aroma. What I did pick up was some malt and toffee. No hops. Mellowed bottle maybe? Pours clear copper, with a diminishing white fizzy head. Flavor is not agressive. Taste has notes of nuts and citrusy hops, blalanced by some sweet toasted malt. Finish is dry, bitter, and grassy. Not much resin in the finish, and a little on the thin side. This got better as it got to room temp. A good middle of the road IPA. I have had this one several times at the brewpub, and it is much better on tap there. Same with all of the other bottted Goose beer, with the exception of the small batch beers.

Light amber color. Hoppy aroma, fruity, very nice. Good malty flavor, with sticky sugars, good body, and a powerful hopping, aromatic and resiny, a bit fruity too. Very good, especially for being a low gravity one.

Bottle, 2005-11-05, 7-4-6-3-13=33
Golden to light amber color. Beautiful fruity hoppy aroma. Weaker body than expected, some sweetness, quite bitter and aromatic but not aggressive. Mild American IPA.

got the one by accident - i ordered some imp ipa from liquid solutions, and this was in its place. matt worked it out though (thanks matt). from the bottle - fruity and malty, with a decent hop kick. a pretty good ipa if i must say so. when i was drinking it i was picturing how good the iipa could be based off this one, and i must say those expectations are damn high. now i just need to get the beer.

OK, time to rate this beer, as it has been appearing in my home with increasing regularity. Finally, an IPA upon which me and my wife agree. She finds it surprisingly drinkable for 58 IBUís. Iím impressed by how refreshing this ale is. A most welcome houseguest, to keep company with alpha king and bitter woman.

On tap at Wrigleyville. Pours translucent orange with a foamy white head. Has all the standard IPA stuff going on...pine, citrus, etc. Had a nice bite on the finish. Itís not going to turn any heads but it is a fine example of a "normal" IPA.
