Our IPA recalls a time when ales shipped from England to India were highly hopped to preserve their distinct taste during the long journey. The result, quite simply a hop lover’s dream. And this classic ale adds a fruity aroma, set off by a dry malt middle, to ensure that the long hop finish is one you’ll remember.

Rather cloudy(my fault, not paying attention when pouring, so unfair to penalise the beer), aroma is fantastic hops ,hops & more hops, and some malt. There is so much flavour here, superbly balanced. At the moment this is available at Safeway, but will it survive the Morrison takeover..I hope so.

Nothing special about the pour - muted yellow, small head that soon disappears. The aroma though! Wow! The floral hops smell great - and taste just as good. Nice malt start - and a great bitter finish. The IPA thins out in the middle though. Who cares! For $6.50 a six this could be one of my new favorite IPAs.

Very nice floral aroma. Pours slightly hazy and light orange. Off-white head with large bubbles fades quickly. Very good balance between malt and hops. Well carbonated and light on the palate. Maybe a bit thin. Overall a very nice IPA.

This was the first IPA I ever had and I still drink it today. Very good starter IPA had a odd smell like flowers, buttasted good. The head could have stayed around a little longer.

Bottle Pours a hazy amber orange with a small white head and thin lacing. Aroma is plenty of hops but fruity, citrus and melon maybe. Flavor is rich citrusy hops and lots of balancing sweet malts. Feel is very full bodied thick and smooth Aftertaste is a nice sharp bitterness but fits well with all the other flavors. A very nice drinkable IPA. Thanks MrFacto

12 oz brown long neck. in appearance this is a slightly murky orange, with a large bubble white head, that goes fast but does leave substantial lace. The aroma is quite subdued for an American IPA, but all the usual aromas are present. This is quite malty for an American IPA, its all malt at the very first sip, but soon the hops take over.in the middle and back of the tongue. Quite spicy and citric. good bitter after taste. Quite nice on the palate, maybe just a touch on the thin side. Its a nice enough beer and drinkable..but not very exciting.

UPDATED: DEC 22, 2004 The head was gone in no time. Kinda cloudy. Lots and lots of flavor... much more hoppy than MacTarnahan IPA, which I drank side by side with it. As the others said it is kinda dry which made me love the aftertaste which is also slightly bitter. This is probably the best IPA I can get at my local liquor store (Lucas Liquor in St. Louis).

UPDATED: AUG 29, 2014 Wow. I am surprised at how good this is. Orangeish gold color and kinda foggy. Beautiful citrus hop aroma. Perfect bitterness and very flavorful. Best Goose Island I’ve had thus far. Rerate. This beer has changed over the years. Certainly it has tamed or my expectations of an IPA have changed.

Bottle. Poured Golden amber with nice fizzy head, and the aroma was outstandging. Malts yes, but good nose of hops and pine . Wow, hops jump right out, but the middle is dry and malty. The flavor is quite nice and last well.

Pours a hazy orange/yellow, nice big white head, lots of lacing. aroma of piney hops, lemon, and orange. Flavor is very smooth and full, very balanced hops and malt. Very nice.
