COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our IPA recalls a time when ales shipped from England to India were highly hopped to preserve their distinct taste during the long journey. The result, quite simply a hop loverís dream. And this classic ale adds a fruity aroma, set off by a dry malt middle, to ensure that the long hop finish is one youíll remember.

At one time I considered this a very bitter beer now I find it watery. The color has also changed from an amber to more golden now. I have heard that they have some money problems and this may be a cut back beer or maybe my memory is fading. Still a decent IPA.

Citrus and hops on the nose. Poured a nice gold, with a medium white head. Flavor of citrus and hops, nice bitterness.

(Draught) Pours a clear golden color with a descent-sized white head. Beautiful bouquet of florals and grapfruit aroma. Flavor is grapfruity. Enjoyable IPA!

UPDATED: AUG 16, 2005 On tap at the Crescent Moon Alehouse. I first had this IPA years ago at the Chicago brewpub and thought that it was outstanding, until I tried some of their specialty brews. Suddenly, the IPA fell into the B-O-R-I-N-G category. Iím glad that I have rediscovered this ale at my neighborhood public house. This is a solid IPA by any determination. The hop aroma is very pronounced. Iím not so sure why this is as light as it is in color. Malt content is there. I donít think that it is too light, but it isnít as thick as some IPAís. Could this be fuggle hops? It just does not taste like garden-variety cascade hops like so many other IPAís. Not the best IPA, and certainly not the best beer made by Goose Island, but I was so very wrong for ever considering this boring. Very memorable bitter finish leaves you with the need to have another. UPDATE: In the bottle at the Huber Haus IPA tasting. Definitely Columbus Hops. Finishes almost pot-like. Still a great beer.

One of the best American beers easily available in Scotland. Heavy, fruity american (cascade?) hop aroma, orangey, resinous, with some vanilla and pepper. Lovely medium mouthfeel with oily, bitterness and a long bitter finish, again with fruit evident as well as bags of hops.

12oz bottle BBD020705 Nice, rich brassy color. Good head & lace...happy bubbles. Nice nose of malt & floral, citrusy, piney hops. This smells fresh. I wonder how long after bottling that date is? Light bodied. Flavor doesnít quite live up to the aroma. Malt is somewhat there, hop flavors are there, but not a super bold beer. It is light drinking, which hurts it a tad. Hops dominate, but bitterness not as promounced as some. Still, a lingering hop resin, citric note perists in the aftertaste. Seems more pale ale than IPA...But a good hoppy beer.

Some say that this is the best of the regular production Goose Island products. Perhaps the best lacing of any beer I’ve ever had. Beautiful huge white foamy head. This is a good IPA all around. Very nice grapefruit nose. Hoppy body. Very bitter finish, almost like an ESB. Quite good. Nice colorful labels as well.

UPDATED: MAR 20, 2005 Golden orange in color with a white head. Has a orange and lemon citrus notes in the aroma. Sometimes it can smell like juicy fruit gum, or have grassy hops dominate the citrus. Flavor varies significantly from batch to batch. Some are very sweet and citrusy while others have much more hop profile to them. Very nice hoppy citrus lemon and orange taste with some noticable malt to balance. A superb brew very fruity and tasty.

08.29.04 12oz bottle. Golden color, or a pale amber; smallish head. Pretty standard micro-IPA in most respects, but with a real kick-ass aroma. Lots of citrus blossoms, springtime pines, and grapefruit breakfast smells make for a delicious nose. The flavors donít really keep up as the hops, which were so welcome in the aromas, completely take over the flavor. Nice bitterness on finish, but an aftertaste that lingers in a not so great way. Thanks Bunkypop.

Draught: Clear, ruby-amber color. Lasting, average, creamy white head. Excellent lacing. Heavy flowery, grassy, piney, sprucy, citrusy, hop flavor. Also some clove notes. Medium body and slick texture. Average carbination. Bitter finish. Heavily bitter. Pretty good IPA.
