Our IPA recalls a time when ales shipped from England to India were highly hopped to preserve their distinct taste during the long journey. The result, quite simply a hop lover’s dream. And this classic ale adds a fruity aroma, set off by a dry malt middle, to ensure that the long hop finish is one you’ll remember.

Bottle, november 07. Great, striking, citric grapefruit aroma with some piney touches. Interesting bittersweet flavor, balanced with an evident hoppy note and some spicyness. Medium mouthfeel, tasty and refreshing. Clear golden color with a nice, bubbly white head. Nice, hoppy, spicy and balanced IPA.

Amber colored, pours with a white head... aroma is very fruity, tastes slightly bitter with plenty of hops... some notes of citrus towards the end...

Orange with good, foamy white head / Pine and pineapple nose / Light body, some malts and modest hops, with good finish / Simple, cooked flavor of pineapple with pine and caramel on the finish / A fine but not stellar effort.

Coutesy of Gillard. Pours a clear deep copper with white head. The aroma is grapefruit hops and a stream of sweet malts. Nice hop representation in the nose. Smooth flavor of grapefruit hop mild bitterness and sweeter hop flavor. The malts contribute nicely with sweet malts and mild caramelization. This is a nicely balanced IPA. Into the finish is even grapefruit hop bitterness.

10-27-07 bottle. Hoppy aroma - but want more of it - a bit lacking. Only slightly soapy up front - finishes clean (no soap). Nice flavor and great balance. Almost creamy as it finishes. Nice - would love to have again.

Nice brilliant golden color. Dense white head with minimal lacing. Nice aromatics with notes of citrus, pine and some maltiness. Crisp finish that makes this IPA incredibly drinkable due to it’s balance.

Mild, but still fragrant hop aroma still has the traditional English style caramel malt backing, same goes for the taste, not hoppy enough to be a Hop lovers dream as mentioned in description, but hoppier then it used to be. For those who like a slightly more balanced IPA,this is nearly perfect

Mostly transluscent honey colored pour with a nice whitish head. Smell is mildly hopped with some sweetness showing in the nose as well. Taste is somewhat mild hop bitterness and flavor, with a smooth, creamy tart sweetness following. Almost more American Pale like to me, but it makes for a very nice drinkable IPA. A bit unique, and friendly at the same time.

This by far is my favorite from Goose Island. A very smooth IPA. A huge head which lasted throughout most of my glass. A fantastic IPA

Pours a cloudy orange with a stark white head. Smells fruity and hoppy. Initial flavor is hops and carbonation, but has a bit of spice to it. Finishes nice with a nice mouthfeel. This is a good summertime beer, maybe the best IPA I’ve had.
