Our IPA recalls a time when ales shipped from England to India were highly hopped to preserve their distinct taste during the long journey. The result, quite simply a hop lover’s dream. And this classic ale adds a fruity aroma, set off by a dry malt middle, to ensure that the long hop finish is one you’ll remember.

A cracking American IPA. Shining gold with a short head. Smelled great: very bright with luscious soft fruit and nose-tingling gooseberry tartness. Soft caramel and fresh hops. Medium bodied. Typical US PA flavour mix of caramel vs piney hops, but better balanced than most. Long satisfying bitter finish. Very good indeed. (Duff homecoming gathering)

Pours an orange golden color with a medium sized white head. Aroma is of faint pine needles and hops. Flavor is slightly hoppy and piney. Better than average, but nothing spectacular here.

Heard a lot about this beer before I moved to Chicago. Good, but not as good as I had hoped. Little darker than I like. Don’t care too much for the aroma but good hoppy flavor. Tap much better than bottle.

UPDATED: JAN 22, 2007 12z bottle. clear golden hue with little head. Citrus and bread in the nose. Fruity and lively. Dry and piney. Almost a year later, at the request of a buddy, her is my new rating. Still a 12oz bottle. Filtered and golden amber, spiral white head. Grapefruity cirtus aromas with notes a bready cereal grains. Medium bodied with a crisp hop note. Slight malty sweetness but the hops dominate the palate. Sticky hops. Flavors of citrus and resinous pine. It’s a good IPA, but still not one of my favorites by a long shot.

Pale and hazy. Spruce and hops in the aroma-very pronounced. The flavor is quite tasty orange, malt, and nuts nicely balanced. Has none of that soapy quality that IPAs usually have- a big plus for me. Bitter but just in the right amount so that it doesn’t overwhelm the overall effect. Beat me hurt me force me to write bad checks-I like this IPA.

Bottled. Pours a medium golden color with traces of orange. Somewhat sweet crisp hop aroma. Bitter right up front. Quite malty as well. Finish is slightly bitter. Reminds me of an extra hoppy English IPA.

Decent sized fluffy white head. Light carbonation. Lots of fluffy hops floaters in there. Light carbonation. Nice and hoppy aroma. Light citrus with a nice balance of malts. Hops araom fades pretty quickly. Little vegetal now. Color is a cloudy dark orange. Flavor is sharp bitterness. Very dry and puckering. Not how I remember it. Bitterness overpowers the malts. Grapefruit rind, and spices. Finish is dry and very bitter. This could have been much better and I think that it is. This bottle may just be off a little bit.

Bottle (12oz). Thanks to my friend Dave B for this one. Poured slightly hazy orange-amber with a decent creamy white head. Aroma of solid pine/citrus hops, a bit floral, some malt. Taste is tingly resiny grapefruit and lemon zest hops, enough malt to balance it, crisp bitter almost dry finish. Average body, lively and astringent mouthfeel. Soild, if unspectacular, IPA.

Pours a nice deep amber color. Aromas of hops/hops/citrus. Strong hop flavors with malts and a nice dry finish.
