UPDATED: SEP 13, 2007 Strong citrus overtones. Strong hoppy finish: bitter, yet pleasing. Not astringent Decent amount of malty body support this good IPA.

Very good brew. Pours amber color, only slightly cloudy. Nice foam head attatched.
Smell is good, nothing fancy, but solid. Taste is full of hops, and a slight pine taste. Very drinkable brew for it provides, thanks for the chance to try it kc.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz bottle. Pours a nice amber color with thin white head and light aroma. Interesting hops taste, but not as enjoyable as others have rated. I typically love the strong hop taste of an IPA, but somehting about this one puts me off. Not bad, just not that good.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Solid IPA, at times i thought I lmight like this better than the xxx IIPA, but in the end it’s not as complete nor compex a beer as it’s older brother. It’s a beutiful standard IPA, if you like hops you’;ll like this.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: JAN 26, 2008 Re-rate, Jan ’07 on draft at Durty Nellie’s: Original experience stands, no wet dog aromas, though, just a really nice overall IPA, good earthy and resinous notes supporting the citrus. Original Rating: Poured an amber to pale color with a frothy nice white head, very nice lacing, looking pretty so far. The aroma was grapefruity, quite nice, other citrus notes, some citrus rinds. Slight wet dog aspect to the aroma, but it didn’t come out after the first few minutes or in the flavor. The flavor otherwise followed suit, light resinous notes also underneath it all but citrus/grapefruits definitely the highlight. Moderate mouthfeel, fairly clean finish, nice stuff. Not quite as outstanding and rich as my favorite Stone IPA, but pretty darned nice and drinkable.
