4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JUL 3, 2008 Rated 3/23/06: Wow! This is a well crafted IPA in all aspects. Pours a burnt orange color into my glass. There is a thick foamy head that immediately forms and eventually simmers down to a fine creamy film. Carbonation is slightly visible, and a thick lacing forms all the way down the glass. This beer is very aromatic, a bouquet of spices, malts, and bitter hops fill my senses. This is a very traditional aroma that is well balanced. The mouthfeel is thick and full with a very nice finish. The flavor is outstanding. Spicy and citrus flavors from the hops immediately hit followed by a smooth maltiness. At first the intensity from the hops overwhelm my palate but after a few tastes this beer comes together in wonderful fashion. Well rounded and outstanding in all categories, well done.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A wonderful citrus - hop aroma, really punchy, little head (had to use a red wine glass) an apple-hop-brandy-caramel flavour and a delightfully charming apple schnapps finish, lovely and I am so delighted I can get it in Ireland!

3.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
faun head that stood its ground, beautiful amber body, sweet! as advertised dry malt with a big hop finish. That said it, still had a nice balance with a little fruity flavor. I would have this one again.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
A nice looking IPA with a big foamy head. Plenty of retention here, too. Aroma is full of pine. Flavor is clearly tart, as expected, but is also surprisingly sweet as the malts show up. Definitely the best American IPA I have tasted.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Quite unbalanced. Good perhaps for hopheads but not for me. Little if any backing malt noted. Mostly resinous bitterness and extremely dry.

Nicely hopped. Great citrus aftertaste. Thanks to Pisctaor for the sample. This would be my new favorite IPA (if we could get it here)

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz. bottle - pours lightly cloudy, pale gold with a bone white head. Aroma is typically citrusy for an American IPA, but with a dose of sweet malt as well. Smells balanced. Flavour...tastes balanced as well. Fresh orangey hops, caramel malt, some earthy notes, all leading towards a mildly bitter finish. Classic IPA, in the English character/tradition. Certainly not a US hop bomb. Finish is actually quite sweet, presumably coming from the malts. Nice stuff, very drinkable.
