COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our IPA recalls a time when ales shipped from England to India were highly hopped to preserve their distinct taste during the long journey. The result, quite simply a hop lover’s dream. And this classic ale adds a fruity aroma, set off by a dry malt middle, to ensure that the long hop finish is one you’ll remember.

P: A clear golden slightly orange tinted body with a small dollop of off-white head that fades to a marshy wake. Nice effervescence screaming to the top. S: Spicy whiffs of chili powder, white and black pepper corns, watermelon rind, and grapefruit. Traces of pine needles. T/M: A nice toasted salty toffee malt base with hoppy melon, papaya, persimmon, cereal grains and a peppery dry resiny finish. Zesty carbonation in a moderate body. O: A decent IPA. Not much else to say. A spicy brew to say the least but not overly accomplished. This just lacks in flavor profile and aroma. Im still waiting for it to change and be better. Probably not a go to IPA in my opinion.

On tap, pours dark orange with an off white head and leaves tons if lacing. Aroma is smooth citrus, a bit of pine and lots of caramel malt. Taste is the same, a balance between hops and malt, grapefruit notes but not very bitter, the caramel flavor sweetens it up. Good and refreshing, but i like mine a bit more bitter.

Bottle from Bobar: Poured a golden brass color topped with frothy foam that broke down leaving the liquid naked without head. Aroma is mild with a pleasant blend of aromatic hops but did not convince my nose that this was an IPA. The drink is subtle with a minimum presence of sweet malts balanced out with a semi-spicy hop profile. Not the best IPA and actually falls short of being a standard IPA worth the steep price of a 6-pack.

Floral but sweet. Notes of apricot and grape. Unlike dome IPAs it doesn’t end up getting too tart.

330ml bottle from my friend Simon. Bottled 01/05/2013. Bought a week ago.
Appearance : Clear pale amber with small head. Minimal lacing.
Aroma : Citrusy piny and slightly spicy hops. Light grapefruits, some floral notes as well. Malty with light caramel notes.
Taste : Fruity grapefruits with floral and slightly spicy notes. Nice malt. Malty finish with grapefruits. Light resinous notes. Fruity finish. Moderate bitterness.
Palate : Soft carbonation.
Overall : On the line between APA and IPA in my opinion. Nicely drinkable, nice hops and nice malt. Well balanced. Quite tasty, nice example of the style. Nothing outstanding but very well made.

Type: 12-oz. bottle Glass: Manzanita pint glass From: Cherokee Market Beer & Wine in Normal Heights (San Diego), Calif. Price: $9.99 for a 6-pack Purchased: April 28, 2013 Consumed: April 28, 2013 Misc.: Born on March 11, 2013 Poured a caramel orange hazy color with two fingers of white frothy head. Very good layered khaki white lacing all the way down. Great retention of layered film all the way down. Smelled sweet floral hops, lime citrus hops, pine, tropical fruit, faint resin hops and even some caramel malts. Clean, crisp and refreshing. Tasted similar to the nose, not quite as strong as I’d thought it would be. Almost tastes more like a pale ale than an IPA. Lime citrus hops, orange peel, orange, grapefruit, resin, pine. Light body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Clean, crisp, watery abrupt finish with some bitterness lingering on the tongue after. I’ve had this before and I thought it was a bit better, but I wasn’t feeling it. This IPA just didn’t impress me.
