3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 tfredvik (377) - Oslo, NORWAY - APR 15, 2012
Good looking light orange, close to amber body body with a large, off-white, long-lived head that turns into patches of foam floating on a film of tiny bubbles. Very good lacing. The aroma is quite unusual for an IPA: there are some hoppy citric notes of over-ripe grapefruit, but the malty elements are almost as evident. I get caramel and some almost lightly toasted notes. The malts provides a moderate to light sweet taste, while the finish is moderate plus bitter. The malty parts almost drown the grapefruit and floral notes with lots of caramel, bread and toasted notes. Good mouthfeel. A quite nice IPA, but the malty elements are a bit in the way of the fruity notes, which I think is what should rule a good IPA.

13/IV/2012 - 355ml bottle from Waitrose (Canterbury) @ home - BB: 8/IX/12 (2012-351)
Clear golden beer, big creamy head, pretty adhesive and stable. Aroma: very fruity, sweet exotic fruits, passion fruit, pineapple, lychee, bit piny. MF: little carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty fruity, little sweet, piny hops, bit cheesy, very hoppy, honey, sweet malts. Aftertaste: little sweet, resin, piny hops, honey, exotic fruits, lychee, dry bitter ending. Nicely balanced ipa. Better than Stone stuff.

Pours to a golden color and decent head/lacing. Smells piney but tastes much more smooth than that - good hops kick, yet balanced, with a lemony after-flavor I haven’t noticed much in other IPAs. Malts figure in the finish as well. Quite refreshing.

12oz bottle, clean golden color, with a frothy white head, soft hops bouquet nose, with some light spicy, piney, leafy, grassy, lemon peel accents, with a floral pineapple, mango, peach fruity hoppy note in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate, with a nice flowery fruity peachy, mango, lychee, pineapple, lemon peel, cedary, piney, leafy hop character, with some light honeyed pale, munich, toasted malt, faint lemongrass spicy flavours, and with a light lemon pie, lemon marmalade undertone, leading towards a fruity pineapple, citrusy, lingering leafy, cedary, sappy hop bitterness finish.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20 RyanK (69) - Rhode Island, USA - APR 9, 2012
Pours a light golden with plenty of carbonation and a large white foamy head. Brew smell reminds me of incense sticks, hops and some lighter fruits or flowers. Medium body the hops and carbonation bounce around on the palate. Floural hops and the taste of orange balance pretty well with a bread like malt and a dry finish. Neither malt or hops are too strong, not a weak beer but too expensive.
