Our IPA recalls a time when ales shipped from England to India were highly hopped to preserve their distinct taste during the long journey. The result, quite simply a hop lover’s dream. And this classic ale adds a fruity aroma, set off by a dry malt middle, to ensure that the long hop finish is one you’ll remember.

Bottle, 35.5cL. Home. A wonderful golden orange yellow beer with a medium creamy white head. Thin bubbles. Medium persistence. Good lacing. Fruity aroma (exotic fruits), resin, herbs, smoke. Intense ! Medium to heavy refreshing bitter, sharp dry, light sweet. Medium body, thin texture, fizzy carbonation, dry lasting bitter finish. Overall, beautiful, delicious (basket of fruits), good dry bitterness.

BOTTLE 355ML (6 months old) Look: clear amber/brandy, light beige frothy to creamy head. Aroma: lots of caramel, toffee with hints of mint and a touch of resin - that’s pretty much all the hops, some malt? Taste: sweet, strong caramel, CO2 acidity, moderate hop bitterness.

Lots of caramel, not much hops. I wonder if it is way too old.

For me, I would describe this as a moderate hops ad alcohol beer, but it does have a full flavored mouth feel. Pretty decent.

See: Dark gold, amber/copper. 1 finger white frothy head. Lively pour. Smell: Fresh, clean, grassy, citrus fruits especially grapefruit. Taste: Nutty. Nowhere near as hoppy as expected with the aroma but the fruit notes and character definitely come through at the end of the sip. Pallet: Medium bodied, quick thick and resin like in the mouth. Minimal carbonation, there is fizz in the mouth but very few tiny bubbles in the glass. Malty, nutty aftertaste. Quite a mellow American style IPA. Strong hop presence but not over powering like some. Very nice, well balanced with a surprising and pleasing nuttiness. Strong (5.9%) but sessionable, it doesn’t have an over powering bitter aftertaste, in fact the ending of each sip is very mellow and more malty than hoppy.

From notes, O’Caseys, Manhattan, 6-7-14. On Tap, Poured slightly hazy golden. Aroma of flowers, lemon. Taste is nicely balanced between the sweet malt and bitter hops. Light body, smooth, nice light small bubble carbonation. Finishes with hints of oranges, lemon zest and herbs. Very nice!

Aroma: hoppy aroma, more floral than citrusy unlike the IPAs I’m used to. As it gets warmer, the caramel and baking bread aroma is more evident. Appearance: really doesn’t look great, poured into a glass from a bottle and the head was white but not pillowy, more like broken bubbles which immediately turned into a very thin layer of head that actually had staying power. Taste: a good medium body, not too bitter Palate: I felt the palate was outstanding, just enough bitter to keep it interesting. Pleasant long finish. Perhaps a bit thin. It is medium bodied on the tongue but then feels light bodied on the palate. I would drink again and again.

On tap at Iggy’s on Ludlow. Pours a cloudy copper with medium frothy white head that lasts leaving sticky lacing. The aroma is strong pine, hemp, grapefruit. Medium mouthfeel with light hop bite and grapefruit with lingering bitter finish. Very good.
