Our IPA recalls a time when ales shipped from England to India were highly hopped to preserve their distinct taste during the long journey. The result, quite simply a hop lover’s dream. And this classic ale adds a fruity aroma, set off by a dry malt middle, to ensure that the long hop finish is one you’ll remember.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet, Norway. Pours light and hazy golden, with a thick white head. Faint aroma of grass and orange peels. Medium mouthfeel with a flavour of some grapefruit, pine and a moderately dry and bitter finish. Very drinkable low abv IPA, but nothing special.

Draft. Pours a dark gold color with a brief white head leaving some nice lacing. Aroma is mostly malt with some hops but the taste brings out more of The hops which are balanced. Clean finish, medium body. Very good! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

DATE TASTED: February 14, 2014... GLASSWARE: Corsendonk thistle...OCCASION: in between storms--with another of Dave’s Super Bowl leftovers... APPEARANCE: massive, mountainous white head that begins as an iceberg peak; consistently active, orange amber body; glass lip to beer top lacing... AROMA: aromatic floral hops; slightly malty; piques the interest...PALATE: creamy, active and warming at the throat; the modest alcohol is properly situated--a balanced mouthfeel...TASTE: powerful,, cutting, arresting--any siege-like hyperbole aptly fits; wonderfully sprucey and citric without being overbearing... OVERALL: kudos to Dave for his Super Bowl selections--both Honker’s and the IPA play well as samplings or sessionables; a big IPA that remains accessible and relatively affordable...

Pretty standard IPA. Quality brew from a quality brewery. Hoppy goodness that is balanced nicely.

Served draft in a plastic cup. Not enough aroma for my liking but easy drinking. A nice, balanced, dare I say old fashioned IPA.

355ml bottle. slightly hazy amber colour, small frothy off-white mostly lasting head, good lacing. Heavily hoppy fruity and slightly perfumey aroma of orange and herbs backed by moderate grainy malts. Taste is initially even somewhat sweet and malty, turning into a very bitter long finish with a moderate to heavy astringent feel. Medium body, initially dry and later oily mouthfeel, lively carbonation. Well above-average American craft IPA. Actually one of the best ones I tried, especially tastewise.

Pours slightly cloudy amber colour with tight thin head. Smells of distinct sweet tropical citrus fruitiness. Taste to follow with dry bitterness balance. Nicely balanced and falvourful ipa
