Our IPA recalls a time when ales shipped from England to India were highly hopped to preserve their distinct taste during the long journey. The result, quite simply a hop lover’s dream. And this classic ale adds a fruity aroma, set off by a dry malt middle, to ensure that the long hop finish is one you’ll remember.

This was my first micro beer on my trip back from Japan to the States! I have to say after being stranded in Japan for 6 months it was nice to have a good American IPA for once. Bought this guy right in the Chicago airport on my way to Minneapolis. Pours out a deep amber color with a really nice and thick off-white head. Grapefruit hops and pine resin all over the place on this one. I could smell the beer as I was walking to my seat to enjoy it. Flavor is very much citrus oriented and is backed by caramel and toffee malts. However, I didn’t think that the hops really took away the sweetness that much. I know some people like their IPA’s a bit sweet, I’m not one of them. I like it hoppy and balanced this one was just a bit too sweet for me to really boost the rating, this being said, this is still an excellent IPA.

From the bottle, it pours a light, clear copper-orange color with a small rocky white head. The head disipates quickly leaving some lacing on the rim of the glass. The aroma is of sour grapefruit peel with notes of grass and some sweete malt undertones. The initial flavor is also of sour grapefruit peel. The middle begins to balance things out with a bit of sweet malt and then the finish is of hop bitterness that lasts a long time. A VERY nice IPA.

Floral aroma with a mild, spicy, hop taste. Deliberately not extravagant (I suspect!), just a nice, classic IPA. Rated by BrewTom

Orange pour with a thin white head and lacing that clings solidly to the glass. Light pine and citrus aroma. Taste is citrus and light pine. Really crisp and refreshing.

I have been drinking nothin but IPA’s for the past couple weeks, and they are all starting to blend together for me. This one was really good too, nice amount of hops for this hop fan. Not to fruity. To many ipas claim to be the "hop lovers dream" though.

Good, but nothing remarkable about this one. That is not to say it wasn’t enjoyable and I wouldn’t drink it again. Malt build is in balance with a hefty does of hops.

Pours kind of a smoky peach color, with 2 fingers of a fluffy white head. Floral hop aroma with a hint of pine. Well balanced flavor, very limited initial hop bitterness followed by a very nice sweet malt flavor. Nice smooth and creamy beer with a sticky and oily palate. An easy to drink beer, but a step below the top tier IPA’s in terms of complexity and flavor.

Pours a nice clear orange with medium white head, decent lacing. Aroma mostly of citrus hops, slight floral, and some light fruity notes. Flavor matches well and leaves a nice hop bitterness behind. Slightly slick mouthfeel, but a nice IPA anyway.

Poured into an English pint glass. Amber color with a cream colored head. Aroma is caramel malt with some grapefruit hop notes. Taste is similar with more biscuity malt flavors coming through as well as some earthy hop notes. Medium bodied with a slightly dry finish. Overall this is pretty good. Not nearly as hoppy as some IPA’s, but a good traditional example.

12oz bottle BBD020705 Nice, rich brassy color. Good head & lace...happy bubbles. Nice nose of malt & floral, citrusy, piney hops. This smells fresh. I wonder how long after bottling that date is? Light bodied. Flavor doesn’t quite live up to the aroma. Malt is somewhat there, hop flavors are there, but not a super bold beer. It is light drinking, which hurts it a tad. Hops dominate, but bitterness not as promounced as some. Still, a lingering hop resin, citric note perists in the aftertaste. Seems more pale ale than IPA...But a good hoppy beer.
