2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Light amber pour. Medium head that falls fast. Unfortunate bitterness that ruins the beer. Highly hopped, which makes my stomach cry for Pepto or Tums later on. I just donít dig the hops.

Citrus and hops on the nose. Poured a nice gold, with a medium white head. Flavor of citrus and hops, nice bitterness.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a clear, golden color with minimal white head. Aroma is nice mix of hops (citrus, pine & floral) and malt. This sort of reminds me of a weak 90 Minute IPA in both taste and aroma. Taste is similar with a nice citrus flavor along with some sweet malt and a bitter finish. The body is light to medium. Overall this beer is very clean and smooth but I prefer something a little more substantial.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Very good IPA. One of the first few IPAís I ever had when just starting out trying new craft beers. Still one of the best I have ever had.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Light golden body, frothy white head. Citrus aromas coming from the hops. A little malt coming through to balance the bitterness. Hops and bitterness arenít over the top. A lighter, easy drinking IPA. Definitely sessionable.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz. bottle poured into shaker. Pours clear amber with a generous off-white head with slight carbonation and light lacing. Nice citrusy-pine hop aroma. Very well-balanced flavor. Typically I donít love the highly-rated, balanced IPAís (Sculpin, Headhunter, etc.), but for some reason Iím quite fond of this.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Desent IPA. Strong hoppy aroma with some malty caramel notes. A bit cloudy, just coarse filtered? Small head. Finishes a bit too much on the sweet side, I would prefer a drier, more bitter finish for my IPAs.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
It pours a remarkably light-color, the straw shade of a cream ale. This is a bit strange, as pale ales tend to have caramel malts to provide a bit of sweetness in order to balance the hops, and caramel malts add those rich reddish browns. It is fairly clear but there is certainly a bit of haze. The off-white head is creamy and strong, but not very voluminous. The nose is strongly of Pacific northwest hops: the floral grapefruit and orange character that defines American pale ales.
The flavor is at once creamy and sweet yet robust and bitter. Strong hop bitterness leads the way and doesnít let up, providing a throughline that the rest of the flavor dances around. The hops arenít content to be a bit(ter) player, though. Herbal, earthy, almost vegetal flavors intermingle with serious grapefruit, mango, and citric hoppiness. Notes of light malt come through: a clean and malty, almost bready, flavor. This contributes a bit of sweetness that is frustratingly evasive. For a moment it almost seems balanced, then the bitterness rears its beautiful head.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled 12/04/09, consumed 12/17/09.
[A] Orange, lemon zest, spicy earthy hops, sweet malt backbone.
[A] Calm pour shows a golden amber color with one finger of white head. Quickly recedes to a slight foam with soapwater bubbles and decent lacing down the glass.
[F] Sweet pale malt, biscuity, seems to be upfront with fruitiness, juicy hops in the middle, and malty finish complimented by a resiny pine linger.
[P] Nice feel. Decent bite. Good balance. Fairly sweet.
[O/D] $6 a 6 pack is a steal. This is a good brew, even if not the greatest IPA. Pretty damn fresh, too. I could drink quite a few out of bottle without noticing. Always something good from Goose Island.
