Our IPA recalls a time when ales shipped from England to India were highly hopped to preserve their distinct taste during the long journey. The result, quite simply a hop lover’s dream. And this classic ale adds a fruity aroma, set off by a dry malt middle, to ensure that the long hop finish is one you’ll remember.

Fruity and grassy hops in the nose. Nice malty taste quickly followed by the dry bitterness.

I’ve never heard of this Yank brewery before, but supposedly it’s well acclaimed and I can understand why. A very nice pale ale. Tastes absolutely nothing like an IPA (in the proper English non-bastardised sense), which it purports to be. Light amber in colour and very bitter sweet. Very spicy in taste - almost something of a Belgian there. Very enjoyable!

Where: Old Line Fine Wine Spirits & Bistro. How: 12 ounce bottle. Appearance: Pours a clear golden color with a white foamy head. Aroma: Earthy and spicy hop aroma, decent. Taste: Earthy hop bitterness, with a caramel sweetness and malts. Palate: Medium body. Overall: Pretty much the quintessential IPA. Very good representation.

Pours a golden yellow color with a small white head. Nice caramel malt and citrus hop aromas. Nice bitter grapefruit/citrus hop bite and nice bitter finish. Nicely balanced.

Orangey pour. Big rush of hops right off the bat, but the aromas seem to blow off over time. Mild malty backbone coated with piney hops. Thin bodied. Very similar to the Hopscotch, but the APA seemed fresher.

Have had bottled and on tap. No detailed notes - just had a couple at dinner and realized I hadn’t entered it yet. Decent enough.

355ml bottle, poured into La Chouffe tulip. A: Golden, clear, large head, very good retention and lacing. S: Hoppy citrus points to Cascade or similar hop being used also had notes of cork and farmyard. T: Husk, grapefruit, pine, grain, apple. Bitterness came in at the finish along with a slight hint of molasses. M: Light texture, well carbonated, crisp. Very easy to drink. O: Had depth, balance and was very well crafted, they nailed this one.

Pours a grand orange amber whatever color, with a decent head and a fairly lively carbonation. The head didn't last long but it has a pleasing strawberry aroma with some hops. Tasty and very well balanced with a smooth finish. I didn't find it near as hoppy as the last couple IPA's I've tried, but I think this is a very refreshing and well made brew.
