4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
DATE TASTED: February 14, 2014... GLASSWARE: Corsendonk thistle...OCCASION: in between storms--with another of Dave’s Super Bowl leftovers... APPEARANCE: massive, mountainous white head that begins as an iceberg peak; consistently active, orange amber body; glass lip to beer top lacing... AROMA: aromatic floral hops; slightly malty; piques the interest...PALATE: creamy, active and warming at the throat; the modest alcohol is properly situated--a balanced mouthfeel...TASTE: powerful,, cutting, arresting--any siege-like hyperbole aptly fits; wonderfully sprucey and citric without being overbearing... OVERALL: kudos to Dave for his Super Bowl selections--both Honker’s and the IPA play well as samplings or sessionables; a big IPA that remains accessible and relatively affordable...

Appearance: light golden with two inch head. Moderate lacing
Aroma: grassy, some citrus grapefruit with a little herb. Overall moderate nose but not over powering
Taste: a little malt right after the initial bitterness. Not crazy bitter. A slight chalky aftertaste that lingers

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Served in tulip glass from bottle. Less than 1-inch head, decent lacing. Hoppy aroma, more pine than citrus, with biscuit-like, malt warmth coming through. Pine taste, malt backbone but definitely hop-forward, and remains dry, hop-centric. Medium mouthfeel. Slightly metallic on the back/end. Long finish, lighter than used to with an IPA, especially English-style. Not bad, not my favorite.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Transfer from BA review on 11-30-12-
Served on tap in a 10 oz chalice glass
Appearance – The beer is served a copper amber colored brew with a one finger white head. The head had a fair level of retention, fading over time to give a lighter amount of lacing.
Smell – The aroma was fruity with aromas of orange, pineapple and mango as well as had a nice malty smell. Mixed with these are some hop aromas of a pine and grapefruit citrus nature.
Taste – The taste begins with some of caramel and bready tastes with a lighter grapefruit citrus hop. As the flavor advances sweeter notes of a tropical and citrus fruit flavor come to tongue with the taste getting sweeter toward the middle. More hop flavors soon come to the tongue and take the taste to its end. A bitter pine and more bitter citrus come to the tongue, drowning out some of the sweet (but not all) and leaving a bready bitter but balanced hopped taste on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer was average in terms of it creaminess/thickness with a carbonation level that was average as well.
Overall – A very enjoyable and drinkable IPA. One that is good for a session brew and well worth a try.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Draft. What a wonderful good beer! The dry, bitter hops are featured in every aspect from aroma, to taste, to finish. Not heavy, nor light. The fantastic hops are prominent without being isolated, even the right amount of alcohol. Just a perfect beer!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
American ’single’ IPA with off-white, coarse, milky, thinnish foam and warm orange blonde colour, clear. Aroma boasts lots of citrussy American hops, grapefruit, tonic water, orange, pineapple, jam, honey, aniseed and cloves. Soft malty taste, citrus freshness, unripe peach, caramel touch, slowly increasing in hop bitterness only to end in a spicy, citrussy, assertive but not too harsh, elegant, long and dry hop bitterness. Very well-balanced IPA.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft pour. Pours a clear gold with a white head of foam. The aroma is big pine and grapefruit pith. The taste is fairly bitter and just a touch sweet. Highly carbonated. Spritzy mouthfeel. On the lighter side for an IPA.
