COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our IPA recalls a time when ales shipped from England to India were highly hopped to preserve their distinct taste during the long journey. The result, quite simply a hop lover’s dream. And this classic ale adds a fruity aroma, set off by a dry malt middle, to ensure that the long hop finish is one you’ll remember.

On tap. Pours with a lightly hazy golden hue with a large and lasting white head. Aromas are malt forward, bready, light caramel. Clean yeast wise. Hops seem a touch faded, citrusy, grapefruit, lightly herbal. Flavors are fruity with a medium bitterness. Citrusy, malt forward, bready, caramel. Medium bubbles, somewhat dry finish. Good standard IPA.

Sweet, floral aroma. Sweet base beer with a nice hop bite. Not the most aggressive IPA out there, but a solid effort.

UPDATED: OCT 1, 2012 My wife brought this one back from a trip to Rochester. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bright orange color with a medium sized yellow-white head that left decent lacing. The aroma was sweet pine, grapefruit, caramel and butterscotch. The flavor was sweet and tangy grapefruit followed by a spicy note and then moderate piney hops with undertones of orange, bread and biscuit. The finish was long, tangy pine, orange and biscuit. Fairly full bodied. Solid.

From notes. First reviewed 5/2/2009. Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a tulip. This pours a surprisingly transparent golden color, with barely a hint of copper. An aggressive pour leaves a 5 cm head that recedes quickly. It does leave some light lacing clinging to the glass. Mostly nice citrusy hops in the aroma, with some grassy notes as well; a toasted malt sneaks its way in. A slightly sweet taste at first gives way to a dry, toasted malt. This flavor does not last long, however, as the grapefruit inspired hops clearly dominate the taste. Grapefruit, with some light earthy notes carry the taste most of the way. Perpetual carbonation gives it a light feel, and although it covers my tongue with a grassy resin, the overall sensation is quite pleasant on my tongue. While hop-dominated, the taste is still quite controlled, so drinking more than a few of these would be no challenge. This IPA has a nice flavor, but it just does not seem that inspired to get a better review. To me, it seems a little light on the flavor side, maybe to make it more marketable. I wish it would kick me in the mouth a little bit more.
