flatmatt (98), Northville, Michigan, USA Jun 3, 2008 Updated: Jun 4, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a golden amber with a medium head. Aroma is strong grapefruit hops with perhaps even a little lemon. Flavor is at first dominated by grapefruit and other citrus flavors with somewhat low bitterness for an IPA, but unfortunately there are also some more grassy notes that throw the flavor off for me. I enjoyed this at first, but it turned out to be a bit of a miss for me compared to where it started.
malrubius (455), USA Oct 4, 2008 12 ounce bottle in pint glass. Pale yellow gold with lasting head and lace. Fresh citrus hop aroma. Very mild honey sweetness (even warmed up) almost nil fruitiness, followed by a bracing hop bitterness and dry finish. Somewhat out of balance, but I like hops like the next guy. Medium body and somewhat medium high carbo add a little unnecessary bite. Not bad. And a rarity for Long Island, it’s fresh. Extra points for readable date code. CaryTheDude (282), Ripon, Wisconsin, USA Oct 1, 2008 Decent IPA. Very nice balance of sweet and bitter with a lingering bitter finish. It’s no Two Hearted, but it’s one I’d get again. noncaloric (111), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Sep 30, 2008 Aroma: Strongly coniferous, hints of ripe fruit. Appearance: Hazy caramel color with two fingers of off white head. Leaves thick rings of lace all down the glass. Flavor: Piny and citric hops at the fruit. Notably fruity-sweet malt body, finishes grassy with apricots and biscuit, lingering floral bitterness. Palate: Juicy mouthfeel, lively carbonation. jezmez68 (281), Chesterton, Indiana, USA Sep 28, 2008 Just an average IPA. Not enough hops for an IPA. Palatable, more malty than hoppy. taalhiker (111), Dayton, Ohio, USA Sep 27, 2008 From bottle. Part of May Dayton Beertasting event. Pours golden amber. Piney hops dominate the nose. Crisp taste with caramel malt finishing off. Nice effort.
