3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
It pours a remarkably light-color, the straw shade of a cream ale. This is a bit strange, as pale ales tend to have caramel malts to provide a bit of sweetness in order to balance the hops, and caramel malts add those rich reddish browns. It is fairly clear but there is certainly a bit of haze. The off-white head is creamy and strong, but not very voluminous. The nose is strongly of Pacific northwest hops: the floral grapefruit and orange character that defines American pale ales.
The flavor is at once creamy and sweet yet robust and bitter. Strong hop bitterness leads the way and doesnít let up, providing a throughline that the rest of the flavor dances around. The hops arenít content to be a bit(ter) player, though. Herbal, earthy, almost vegetal flavors intermingle with serious grapefruit, mango, and citric hoppiness. Notes of light malt come through: a clean and malty, almost bready, flavor. This contributes a bit of sweetness that is frustratingly evasive. For a moment it almost seems balanced, then the bitterness rears its beautiful head.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Light amber white head. Nose is caramel/pine/citrus, nasal clearing. Flavour leans more toward the hops but still balanced by the caramel. Finish does have caramel but has a slight dry bite. Not sticky. Very solid version of an old school American IPA, deserves its rep as a classic. ABV is surprising, thought it was ~7%.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle into a Leffe glass. Clear yellow-orange with a nice bubbly head, although it collapses fairly quickly. Zesty floral hops with a note of spice, it smells good. Crisp, fruity but dry with a certain malty biscuit too. Very good. For what is becoming a mainstream beer this manages to still be decent stuff.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance shows a light golden amber color supporting a light dissipating head. Smell of grapefruit citrus and sweet malts. taste has a lighter malty backbone with a grassy hop flavor that end dry. Mouthfeel is light - medium with good carbonation. Not a full bodied and balanced IPA.

Bottle, 35.5cL. Home. A wonderful golden orange yellow beer with a medium creamy white head. Thin bubbles. Medium persistence. Good lacing. Fruity aroma (exotic fruits), resin, herbs, smoke. Intense ! Medium to heavy refreshing bitter, sharp dry, light sweet. Medium body, thin texture, fizzy carbonation, dry lasting bitter finish. Overall, beautiful, delicious (basket of fruits), good dry bitterness.
