COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Fermented with wild yeasts and aged in cabernet barrels with blackberries, Juliet is a tart, fruity, complex ale. Notes of wood, tannin, dark fruit and spice make Juliet an ideal beer to suggest to Pinot Noir enthusiasts and beer drinkers who are fond of Belgian sour ales.

FOBAB 08’. Poured amber with a little head. Aroma was barnyard funk, rye and wood. Taste was vinegar, small berry flavor and rye with a decent finish. This one didn’t stand out too much for me. enjoyable but a little underplayed and one dimensional.

Tap at Blind Tiger Alehouse. Deep pink-red beer with a thin head. Aroma is awesome. Rich tart sourness, lots of ripe berryish fruit and a lovely soft lactic sourness along with a kiss of spiciness. A big shot of oaky flavour over the top. Softly tart with a good interplay of fruit, bright acidity and nice spiciness. Lingering tart finish. Really an incredible brew. Greatly balanced and well-integrated. Man, these guys are making killer stuff.

Murky amber. No head. Sour Fruit nose. One note sour and oak. I guess that is two notes. Medium body. High carbonation. Abrasive dry finish.

FoBAB 2008 offering: #806 - A very interesting sampling from Goose Island. Real murky brown pour with a small white head. Touches of funk and oak in the nose with a mild fruitiness. Taste is oaky, with dryness and vanilla, and notes of sour berries. Funky barnyard notes are present, but not prominent. Lighter fare, well carbonated, but very nice. Taste lingers quite well on the palate.

Tap at the Blind Tiger Goose Island Event: Pours ruby with a fading head. The aroma is tart and fruity. Notes of grape skin, a touch of sweet berry, vinous qualities and a subtle sweet vanilla cask note. Slick body with a fruity tart presence in the flavor. Cleansing cranberry-like tartness and fruit skin tannin character. The later flavors have mild oak and just a slightly sweet cask note of vanilla. Finishes with residual fruity tart notes and oak. An interesting fruit beer; well integrated.

Draught @ BTAH, ’07 vintage. Pours cloudy, dark strawberry red, with thin, fizzy head. Nose is fantastic - sharp, tart red fruit, berries, sweet notes blending with acidic sharp tartness and a barnyardy funk also. Really delicious. Flavor is funky up front, musty, barnyard, bit of wet leather, with a matching fruity tartness, sharp, more acidic - red berries coming through clearly. Wonderfully drinkable, funk lingers without being overwhelming. Mouthfeel is light with a vibrant, sharp carbonation up front.

Fobab VI. This is kind of like a holy grail for GI fans. Pours a nice light amber with a fuzzy, foamy head. Nose is very softly tart and a touch funky, some nice grassiness, hops and rye spiciness. Some juniper and very minimal berry flavors. There are some sour bugs in here as it has a very clean tartness. I could drink this one all day. Very good.

GABF 2008. Pours hazy light amber with an average, rocky, white head, somewhat lasting with good lacing. Aroma is average malt (straw), light hops (herbs, grass), average yeast (earth) with notes of wood and blackberry. Medium bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a sour finish. Long duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and sourness.

GABF 08: Deep burgundy with a nice quarter-inch head on the one-inch pour. Went down easy enough. Not overly sour (though it did have solid sourness). Had some really nice fruit flavors and aromas (blackberry plus other flavors and esters). Had a freshness about it that made it rather pleasant.

On tap at Publican: This poured a beautiful red/brown/maroon in color with a thin head that fades away. The nose shows a tartness with aromas of rye, berries and hay. In the mouth this has great balance. It has great tartness but also comes off quite smooth and refined. It continues to improve in the glass and is one that really needs to be consumed by the glass vs. a small tasting. It really hit a sweet spot and is something I could drink all the time. I can’t wait until they bottle this one!
