3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
2009 Bottle - Thanks for popping this Toby! - Pours a ruddy orange with a medium white head...aroma is cherry and lemon, oaky, phenolic...flavour is bone dry, lactic red fruit, more lemon...more reminiscent of a belgian lambic than a sour, to me at least...finish is tannic and tasty...

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bomber, shared. Pours what looks like a ruby red in the low light of the bar (could be wrong, maybe it’s lighter), with a small head. Aroma is largely wild yeast with a bit of sour cherry and light fruit detectable as well. Taste is fruit and citrus up front, with a vinious characteristic, and the beer has a wonderful sour/tart finish. It remains clean, it does not get overwhelmed by any of the flavors, and the alcohol is well-hidden. I thoroughly enjoyed this beer; another winner from Goose Island.

2009 Bottle - thanks to Toby. Pours an orange amber with a thin beige head. Aroma is sour and tart with fruity notes and oak. Dry, lingering vinous and oaky tart taste. Very rich and puckering. Has gueuze similarities... Delicious!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at post Borefts BF 09 tasting. Pink/orange with a beige head. Lovely sour fruit, cherries and framboise. Good sourness in mouth, lovely. It’s good, right level of sourness. Lovely fruit. Gorgeous, and I want more.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared by ucusty. Thanks Dave! This was okay, but a bit of a letdown after the Hansenns Cassis that preceded it. Tasted some raspberry, cranberry, other dark fruits, tannins. Mild tartness, but it couldn’t keep up with the authentic belgian lambic. Not bad, though.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bright, brazen orange. Cloudy. Aroma is lightly funky, with cheeses and salts foremost, fruit beneath, and minerals and sugars at the end. Complex and lucid.
Very tart and pleasant flavor; pineapple, cayenne pepper; intense, but calm. Firm yeast textures in breads and brown spices; dark fruits, oak, vinegar; tons of different sensations, all of which are positive, distinct and softly put forward.
Bright, toned palate; brisk and light, but full bodied. Some vinegar and pit fruit flavors nearing the finish. Really masterfully done, and so understated, i loved it. Thanks Ty!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Not super tart, just lightly tart and funky. Reminds me of Orval a bit. I bit of woodiness comes through. Pretty nice.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Thanks ucusty for sharing. Pours a murky deep pink with a one finger frothy dirty white head. The nose is lactic and fruity, some cherry skin tartness, wood, phenol. Flavor is tart, not a lot of character here, fruity, cherry skins. Palate is mildly tart.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: SEP 6, 2011 Poured from bottle into wine glass.
Slightly hazy orangish-pink with a light pinkish head that foamed up excessively at first but settled back, leaving some light lacing behind.
Very tart aroma with a strong fruitiness, especially apple and blackberry, but some clove and earthiness comes through as well. Slight alcohol detected.
Tart fruity malts with pepper and only a slight blackberry taste, at least at first. As I made my way through the bomber it opened up and became more complex, and the blackberry, oak and wine-like characteristics became more noticeable.
High carbonation, with a light body and dry-tart finish. Feels spritzy when first poured but turns smoother as some time passes.
Very drinkable sour ale that is a little more simple and approachable than many others. Quite excellent.
