Fermented with wild yeasts and aged in cabernet barrels with blackberries, Juliet is a tart, fruity, complex ale. Notes of wood, tannin, dark fruit and spice make Juliet an ideal beer to suggest to Pinot Noir enthusiasts and beer drinkers who are fond of Belgian sour ales.

Pretty damn good blackberries but not overpowering. Very tart and sour, like one of those sour patch kids blackberry. I enjoyed it.

2012 Bottle. Pours clear orangish pink, medium fizzy pinkish beige head, dissipates quickly, some lacing. Aroma is funky, horse blanket, lots of oak, berries. Flavor is quite tart, lightly funky, puckering to the palate with waves of oak tannins and berries; obviously not as fresh of a berry bite as when the beer was young, but blending nicely into the oakiness and funky notes here. A bit acetic, which distracts from an otherwise lovely beer. Medium body, spritzy carbonation.

As I continue to do some cellar clearing, I continue to find some surprises. Did not think this would hold up anywhere near as well as this did. Itís basically in flawless condition still, with a rosy, deep violet-tinged amber body that is clear and sports a dark beige head that fully diminishes over time.
Wonderfully integrated fruit and yeast/bacteria acidity shows a powerfully sour nose with plenty of lactic acid and a bit of chalky barrel tannin. Bright fruity notes still remain even after 42 months, with sweet honeyed malts lurking on the edges, balancing nicely. No alcohol in the aroma, nor flaws. Very tart/acidic.
The flavor is still robustly malty, with creamy, tight carbonation and a supple, supportive mouthfeel. Sourness comes out right away, tart brett acids, soft, deeper lactic notes and light berry-like acidity. Some light cabernet nuances, perhaps, with some nutty tannins, further bolstering the mouthfeel. No alcohol noted. Basically, this must have been almost undrinkable fresh, as itís still very, very "heavy" across all fronts here (strong maltiness, rich barrel tannin, intense sourness). That being said, the age has mellowed and homogenized it to the point where, if not quite "elegant" itís still incredibly flavorful and enjoyable, provided you can get past the bracing sourness.
Very encouraging that GI is producing beers that truly can go the suggested 3 years in bottle (and then some). Hell, this thing has easily got another 5-6 years on it if stored properly.

Sampled at Chrisí s bachelor party. Strawberry/amber color with off white head. Smell strikes a strong comparison to red wine. Overly sour, tart, and acidic. Just too much. Then again, Iím not a fan of sours to start.

7 jun 2015, tap. 2013 edition. Dark pink/orange. Nose is tart, sweet, blackberries. Thin body and mildly fizzy. Dry, slightly tart, but enough malt presence to make this not very dry or tart. Some earthy and woody notes. Nice enough.

Cayenne pepper and butter aroma. Taste has notes of tart blackberry and over ripe peaches. High acidity. Finish is tart, underripe cherries.
