CharlesDarwin (1334), State College, Pennsylvania, USA May 9, 2008 Updated: May 11, 2008 750mL Unlabeled Bottle. Big nose of spice and fruit. Funky german bread and fruit. Savory. Pours a clouded red-tinted amber, with a rim of soapy white. Flavor is funky as well. A crisp yeast production, with light sour fruit in it. A bit of bready spice. Tangy and sharp. Light alcohol. As a loaf of weird spice conflicting with blackberry jam. The rye spice is weird with the fruit. It’s prominent, but fights the fruit a little. However, with a little imagination this is an interesting rendition of rye toast with a smearing of dark fruit jam. Carbonation isn’t bad. Rye is rather prominent. Alcohols marry the flavors a little. Interesting. I can’t tell if there are some yeast phenols or a if its run of rye. Confused. Tangy, but I don’t know where that’s coming from, probably the blackberries.
