Murky amber. No head. Sour Fruit nose. One note sour and oak. I guess that is two notes. Medium body. High carbonation. Abrasive dry finish.

UPDATED: MAY 11, 2008 750mL Unlabeled Bottle. Big nose of spice and fruit. Funky german bread and fruit. Savory. Pours a clouded red-tinted amber, with a rim of soapy white. Flavor is funky as well. A crisp yeast production, with light sour fruit in it. A bit of bready spice. Tangy and sharp. Light alcohol. As a loaf of weird spice conflicting with blackberry jam. The rye spice is weird with the fruit. It’s prominent, but fights the fruit a little. However, with a little imagination this is an interesting rendition of rye toast with a smearing of dark fruit jam. Carbonation isn’t bad. Rye is rather prominent. Alcohols marry the flavors a little. Interesting. I can’t tell if there are some yeast phenols or a if its run of rye. Confused. Tangy, but I don’t know where that’s coming from, probably the blackberries.

(Bottle) Pours amber with a small head. The aroma holds tart dark berries, wood, wine, spices, wet stone, damp basement, acidic citrus and light barnyard. The flavour is dry, heavily acidic and tiny bitter with notes of citrus, wood, spices, tart berries and light funk. The mouthfeel is tart with light carbonation. Citric finish. Light to medium bodied.

651mL. The pour is a heavily carbonated clear jewel pink/dark orange with a larger pink head with soda retention and acid cutting. Nose is big acetic acid/pickle with small raspberry seed, more pickle, sour raspberry juice. Taste at first is massive spritzy carbonation, lemon, mild paper, not too much acetic heat, tons of dough, and big tartaric acid like sour warheads. Mouthwatering...fairly intense.

22oz 2009 bottle (bottled Jan 09) from NobleSquirrel. Pours a very clear bright orangish ruby golden with thin white head that reminds me of Alka Seltzer, but disappears much quicker. Nose is a winey, fruity, light acetic mix with some woody tones laying under it all. Lightly tanic and you can definitely pick up the blackberries and some apple, especially as it come fully up to room temp. It also looses some of the tartness on the nose as it warms as well. Light vinegar and thin fruitiness, with some dry peppery wood bitterness on the end. Really kind of watery, lacks depth and doesn’t live up to the promise that the nose offers.

Thanks to fishingnet for this one! Light, tart and fruity. Nose is slightly funky and lactic berries. Flavor is subdued and slightly watery. It is a good flavor, I just wish there were more of it. Sour berries, mostly.

Tried at DLD courteous of a random beer fan. Poured light red-brown with a nice white head. Had a fruity aroma. The sour taste was pleasant, gave the beer a real good finish.

Bottle from hbmason...thanks Tim! - Pours ruby red with a thin off-white head. Smells really earthy and woody, with light plastic, a bit of sweetness and the dry twang of red wine. Taste is real malty and pretty lactic. Wine is present, with a hint of berries--I guess this is the blackberries. Finishes really carbonated with oak sharpness and a bit of balsamic vinegar. Not overly tart, pretty smooth actually. Drinkable but pretty forgettable.

Sampled at Paul’s tasting. Pours reddish pink and bubbly. Arouma is grapefruit. Taste is tart and acetic. Sweet fruits like fruit punch with extra acids added. A bit woody. Not bad.
