22oz 2009 bottle (bottled Jan 09) from NobleSquirrel. Pours a very clear bright orangish ruby golden with thin white head that reminds me of Alka Seltzer, but disappears much quicker. Nose is a winey, fruity, light acetic mix with some woody tones laying under it all. Lightly tanic and you can definitely pick up the blackberries and some apple, especially as it come fully up to room temp. It also looses some of the tartness on the nose as it warms as well. Light vinegar and thin fruitiness, with some dry peppery wood bitterness on the end. Really kind of watery, lacks depth and doesn’t live up to the promise that the nose offers.

Refrigerated brown bomber poured into a white wine glass. Pours clear graduated yellow at bottom to light red on top with small off-white head. Little lacing, medium body, low carbonation, and vinegar aroma. Taste is sour, oak, red wine, and some vinegar. Not bad, but not great.

Bottle. The pour is a very hazy light red. The aroma is strong sour. A little more on the light side overall with the taste. Good for a sour. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clear reddish pour, tart nose with hints of blackberry. Really nice tart sour with hints of fruit. This one is harsh if you don’t know what to expect. Fun sour, but very sour.

Lovely sour ale aroma. Nice red golden but no foam. The tartness maybe a bit above my level, else nice sour ale, sure ribs, stikkelsbær, syreholdige rabarber. Spændende øl og frisk efter en westvleteren 12! This one held 8% alc. vol.

Bottle that I opened after seeing warnings about exploding bottles from both batches 1 and 2. The warnings were right, considering how this thing shot up like a fountain for a second after opening. Open this one in the sink!

Pours a nice cloudy magenta with pink highlights. The aroma is mildly acidic and slightly malty, with a touch of cherry. Mild vinegar acidity in the flavor with a touch of paint, along with some carbonic acid. Muddy yeast bringing up the rear. Spritzy and bright yet completely dead feeling. This is a pretty lackluster sour. If people are wanting to drink this, I don’t understand why they don’t just drink wine. This carries all the same flavor characteristics but pales in comparison to 90% of wines out there.

Sweet berry and vinous nose with light caramel and some vinegar. The taste is lightly sweet and moderately sour, with a fair amount of acetic acid, lots of cherry/berry, some caramel and dark fruit.

I love Goose Island beers and I love tart, sour beers, but this particular one didn’t do it for me. The aroma was great with hints of citrus, blackberry, and sour cherries galore. The beer poured a hazy orange color with just a slight head and good lacing. The flavor was an immediate sour cherry, almost overwhelmingly so. I got a faint hint of the blackberry, wood and spice. My major problem with this beer is that it had no body to it at all. It had the mouthfeel of sherbet mixed with 7up. I like effervescence in my beer, but this tasted like sour punch without the sugar. There’s a nice alcohol finish to it and it’s pretty well rounded on the finish...I just really wanted more body to it.

Pours a black-amber color. Aroma is tart blackberries. Taste is extremely sweet blackberries. That is about it. I’m a lover of fruit beers and sours but this was a bit over the top. Extremely sweet in an unflattering way. I think some aging in bourbon barrels may do this some justice and mellow out that sweetness.
