COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Fermented with wild yeasts and aged in cabernet barrels with blackberries, Juliet is a tart, fruity, complex ale. Notes of wood, tannin, dark fruit and spice make Juliet an ideal beer to suggest to Pinot Noir enthusiasts and beer drinkers who are fond of Belgian sour ales.

GABF 2008. Pours hazy light amber with an average, rocky, white head, somewhat lasting with good lacing. Aroma is average malt (straw), light hops (herbs, grass), average yeast (earth) with notes of wood and blackberry. Medium bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a sour finish. Long duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and sourness.

FoBAB 2008. Poured a slightly hazy dark orange color with an off white head. Attractive aroma of red wine, cereal grain, and oak. There were also whiffs of cider vinegar and toffee. Lots of funk in the nose when swirled vigorously. Light to medium bodied and fruity with moderate acidity that dropped off precipitously in the middle. The flavor was a melange of fruity Smarties candy, subdued vinegar, and cereal grain with lingering oak. Good stuff.

22oz bottle. Pours red with a small ring of white lacing. Lively carbonation. Aroma is of cherries, wood, yeast, funk, and spice. Taste starts off very sour with lots of tart cherries and apple. It slowly mellows after a few sips, allowing a lot of spice, yeast, and oakiness to come through. The finish is very dry with some hints of tangy fruit and hot spice. Body is light. Mouthfeel is light, almost fizzy due to the carbonation. I definitely enjoyed this beer.

Sampled at Noog 5. One of the various sour beers I was lucky enough to taste. Orange/red grapefruit like color with a bit of hazy and a wispy head. Bready aroma with hints of fruit and tartness. The flavor is nicely tart as the aroma suggests but not particularly strong. Just a remnant of peach and strawberry like notes with a wet finish. Pretty good overall.

2010 bomber from a trade 2 years ago... Deep brilliant ruby red with a white head. Acidic, vinous nose with some band aid tartness. Nice oak levels with dark fruits, Cabernet notes and a pleasing level of acidity throughout ... The band aid notes are distracting and bring the beer down a few notches. Semi tart finish with lots of blackberries and more band aid.

2009 vintage, bottled Aug 14. $16 @ Binny’s. Off to Thanksgiving weekend with my family, most of whom won’t be drinking. So I’m "laying down a layer." Oops! Opens with a gusher that won’t stop pumping foam out the top of the bottle. Once it finally calms down in my Goose Vintage stem glass, I have a cloudy caramel beer, a bit pinkish, with loose sediment, a loose foam on top. Has a definite red wine nose, with faint berry background subsumed by aromatic malt. Taste is quite tart. Lacks the creaminess of New Glarus Raspberry Tart. Another pour now shows a nice, fizzy champagne head. Starts to drink more like a champagne, thanks to, I assume, a secondary ferment. Tartness grows on me, with a little bit of fruit. May be a little shallow, but a decent American sour beer.
