Oakes (6979), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Nov 25, 2000 Pleasant malt accent. CaptainCougar (4664), Rockville, Maryland, USA May 6, 2003 On tap at Clark street: Dark copper color with a sweet caramel malty aroma. Dry roasted semi-sweet body with decent balance. This is an ok beer, but nothing special. hopdog (4648), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 12, 2007 12oz bottle. Bottle labeled best before 072907 (a little past the date, good thing its been sitting in the fridge for a few months). Poured a deeper and hazy orangish color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of burnt malts, eathry, caramel, and some toffee. Tastes of caramel, toasted malts, and lightly earhty. Thinner body. Cornfield (4343), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Feb 4, 2005 This is awfully lively for an Irish ale. Good looking red color with a creamy, sustained off-white head, this has quite a spicy aroma along with some floral hopping. It’s got a solid malt backbone topped with some nuttiness, some peppery spiciness from the rye, and a nicely balanced hopping. Good spicy finish. JPDIPSO (4286), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Mar 13, 2004 Bronze color with a decent taupe head. Hops and malt have a powerful nose in this one. Pleasent in the way they fight for attention. Even in the quaff, the to struggle for dominance. Very dry malt (mild dark chocolate and leather)throughout with a floral/grassy hops infusion. Nor really one of my "styles", but this is a well crafted brew that is enjoyable.
