COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This ale pays homage to the Irish who settled on Kilgubbin, or Goose Island, in Chicago over a hundred years ago. In the Irish tradition, red ale gets its rich reddish color from roast barley and chocolate malts. Ours adds a subtle spicy finish from a touch of malted rye, to make Kilgubbin Red Ale perfect for St. Patty's or any special occasion

UPDATED: APR 11, 2008 Good beer. A little hoppy but not the bitter kind. A mild chocolate undertone is quite nice. It is very creammy and malty. Has a beautiful amber color. A little thin but really great session ale. Go for it.

Wow... I’m suprised that this beer isn’t rated a little higher. First off, I’m not a big fan of Irish Red Ales in general so when I tried this I was extra-impressed. Also, I did have this on tap at the actual brewery on North Clark Street in Chicago where the food was really good and the waitstaff especially nice. I really enjoyed the toasted roastiness of this ale. Medium, flavorful maltiness. Subtle hints of spice in finish. Very good.

Pours a large frothy head with good every thing. The beer color is a copper reddish? I could smell the hops the second I opened the bottle. Wow! The thick palate helps hold down the hops just enough you can really get a taste of the roasted malt. Perfect balance. You can still taste the sweet malt on the back of your tongue while the bitter hops is lingering on the roof of your mouth. I really enjoy this beer. Thank St. Patrick I bought a sixer!

I was afraid to open this one as it was the last in my Goose Island Mix pack, but to my surprise, this ale has a unique taste with a smoky finish. recommeded to amyone who wants a lighter beer with a nice taste.

Spicy and rich, good malt and hop blend, once again hard to get here, but seems to store well.

Medium amber pour. Ample head. Mild hops first then smooth malt way in back. Citrusy in the middle? Very nice effort all around. Will have another one soon.

Pours out nice white billoughy head. Picture Perfect. Some lacing. Very nice flavor. Little bitter but not overpowering. Deep Ruby Red color. Taste very good.

Has a very good, strong, hoppy aroma. A thick head and artistic brussels lace score aesthetic points. The initial mouthfeel is floral hoppiness, but it finishes less strongly.
