Not bad. Medium amber with a white head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma is interesting. Roasted malt, chocolate, and a hint of coffee. Tons of carbonation on the palate. Flavor is much like the aroma. Roasted malt and caramel. Finishes bright and spicy.

Enjoyed on tap at GI Clybourn prior to doing some post-Christmas shopping around the area. Appearance clear amber red with thin white head that rims around the glass. Aroma mostly malty, toffee does come out a bit, slight yeast presence. Taste is nice and crisp with malty backing. Medium body, medium carbonation. Solid brew.

Tasted from bottle into standard pint glass. Poured a clear reddish-brown color with chill haze and moderate off-white head. Aromas of bread, roasted barley and very faint hops. Pronounced malt-sweetness just barely balanced by hops bitterness and dryness of unmalted grain, some fruitiness from the ale fermentation. Light-body with a well-rounded mouthfeel. Well-crafted and easy to drink.

Kilgubbin is a bland red - big bodied and malty, but lacks a distinctive taste to set it apart from other widely distributed red ales. It was smooth and drinkable, but not interesting or flavorful enough for me to buy again.

draft... can’t believe I’ve never had this, but never been on in my 20ish visits, wasn’t missing anything... bright and clear medium amber, not much of head... light caramel spice nose... the taste is lightly skunked and boring

Sampled from the tap at the Clyborn location. Poured a clear amber with a gray head that dissipated to the edfges. Aroma was full of bread and hay with a bit of light hops and a hint of chocolate. Flavor began with bread and a bit of chocolate that was joined by a light hop note to round out the beer.

On tap at Wrigleyville GI, and poured with a touch of red to the amber hue, nice, tight bubbled, off white head foam, followed by a cling of ribbony lacing to the glass. The aroma was light grain, toastiness, and a light hint of chocolate. The flavor added a smooth malt content, low to moderate hop bitterness, and subtle dryness to the finish. Nothing fancy, but nicely balanced.
