3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared by Mike. Thanks! Pours a ruddy brownish color with little head. Aroma is sweet vanilla, barrel, booze, and some grain. Heavy mouthfeel. Tastes like it smells. Its just really sweet. If I had to guess this could be Dark Lords cousin its so sweet. So time should do this beer some good.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
2011 bottle poured at Taste of Tops. Very smooth bourbon aroma with wet oak, decadent toffee, a bit of coffee and vanilla, and a slightly sour vinous tone. Pours a dark purple with no head. Moderately hot upon first sip, with velvety smooth bourbon, chocolate, sweet caramel, and a bit of dark grapes. A light honeycomb and toasted grain tone struggles through the heavier dominant flavors, while dark cherry oxidation rears its head late for a boozy finish. Medium palate with an oddly sharp texture. So glad I finally got to try this damn-fine barleywine.

Bottle, thnx to Kermis. Pours a clear reddish brown beer without any head. Aroma is sugary, malty, caramel. Loads of booze and barrel characters in there. Flavor is very sweet, sugar, boozy, wood. Red fruits are present. Very big alcohol burn in the mouthfeel. Nice, but a bit too alcoholic. Slight peppery notes in there as well. Nice one.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark red brown. Nose is booze, dark fruits, some chocolate. Taste is smooth bourbon, prunes, some toher dark fruits, chocolate. Smooth sticky medium mouthfeel. Would’ve loved to have tried this fresh but at this point I think BCBS Barleywine is better.
