3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 BlackForestCO (958) - Aurora, Colorado, USA - NOV 21, 2008
Darn, when I was drinking this I had no idea the ABV was only 3.7%. This is something, at that ABV, that I would love to have around all the time. Poured a lightly hazy golden-orange color with a fluffy white head that stuck around nicely. Aroma of wheat, some spice, a moderate yeastiness, some soft citrus (tangerine and apricot) and a light hoppiness. Moderately dry, crisp entry with some nice wheatiness leads into a lightly funky, dry yeastiness with some undertones of citrus fruit and a light floral hoppiness. Moderate carbonation, decent mouthfeel. I wish stuff like this was bottled.

Draft at Clybourn. Poured a slightly hazy medium orange color with an off white head. Subdued nose including the likes of apricot, clove, and cider vinegar. Light bodied with slight acidity. I tasted clove, peach, a bit of wet stone (at the finish), and a splash of cider vinegar.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Cornfield (5277) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - SEP 22, 2008
On tap at the Clybourn brewpub: It poured a slightly hazed bronze/amber body with a foamy head that laced nicely, although oddly, just on one side of the tulip. It had an aroma of pome fruit, garden flowers, undetermined spices, and a lightly tart funkiness. A touch of caramel, some sour orange juice, and pepper were added to the flavor. It finished dry and mildly tart. Probably GI’s best Saison to date.

draft at GI Clybourn. pours hazy gold with white head. nose of cardamom, mint, red apple, yeast. flavor notes are yeasty, cardamom, mint, red fruit, yeasty, a touch of tartness and pepper. mouth feel is a soft and smooth. another GI saison that lacks farmhouse character and carbonation that is too soft. decent brew though.

Tap at Goose Island Clybourn. Pours a very nice deep gold, fluffy head that dissipates. Nose of rip fruits, sour candy and a little spice. Taste is a bit tart in the front with a clean and dry finish. Very nice beer.
