chicagodri (485), Chicago, Illinois, USA Feb 16, 2008 Draft at Clybourn. Cooper color with thin off white head. Little carbonation, but it was a sweet beer that was smooth. Had a little bit of ginger and other spices to it. I really didn’t think it had anything of a hop bite. It was a decent beer, but I don’t know if it was something I would get again. On another note, what happened to Goose’s menu? A lot shorter now and missing some of my favorites :(
Cornfield (4263), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Feb 14, 2008 This is now on the verge of a beer that should be categorized as a "Spice/Herb/Vegetable," since they’re brewing it with a healthy dosage of ginger. I had both the draft and the cask versions and prefer the latter. The former has an amber body, the cask ale is more golden. Both have sustained heads, the cask’s being more bubbly. The draft version is thicker with a honey sweet malt aroma that has an intensifying ginger scent that soon overcomes the light hopping. The cask version’s aroma is more blended and spicier. Both have a pale malty sweetness in the flavor and a touch of honeycomb. Both have a bitter finish, but the cask versions’s has a more blended spiciness. Both are okay to drink, but I probably won’t indulge in either in the future.

sersdf (861), chicago, Illinois, USA Feb 10, 2008 imperial pint at clybourn. pedestrian but drinkable. mildly hazy amber body. not super malty like i expect of winter warmers, but i guess it’s not a winter warmer. 6.2% is well hidden, but then it isn’t a whole lot anyways. now that i think about it $6 for this is a bit steep. GI kinda sucks now, the menu is really small and they’ve raised prices on everything CMUBEERMAN (415), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Jan 11, 2006 This beer is no good. Tastes like socks. Something at the brewery said it was their answer to a pumpkin beer. Too much spice...too much crap. StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Jan 9, 2006 Clybourn. Translucent copper-brown in color with a creamy, off-white wrung and saliva wisps for the head. Aroma produces elements of hazelnuts, brazils, mild spicing (cinnamon, nutmeg, oregano), Stetson cologne and raisin-laden whole wheat brown bread. Flavor builds on the aromatic predicators. Smooth, burnt and damp cardboard allure. Nutty connotations of brazils and pecans sprinkled with a dash of pumpkin pie spice. Some supporting elements of butterscotch and runny caramel. Somewhat forgettable palate presence while carbonation dances and streams into a mild sessionista. Lucrative finish of separated brown nuts and stinging hops.
