You might think this is a Russian style girly beer (a little Nabokov for you), but instead it is a very sophisticated Raspberry Belgian Ale. Fermented with brettanomyces (the little guys who give us that tart zing) and fresh raspberries, this brew is bright yet deep with spices and edges of the fruits natural tart quality to give it a white wine kind of finish.

2011 bottle thanks to pantanap. Deep amber with a short lived cream colored head. Nose is lacto, funk, sour, acidic, wood, and fruits. Very smooth on the palate, wood, sour, acidic, vinous, and a great sour finish.

*(cuvée 2011): Magnifique bière rosé au collet fuyant. L’arôme est celle d’un vin légèrement fruité et acide et se boit comme tel, même une fois que l’effervescence est disparu.

Bottle, pours reddish orange, small head, beautiful color. Aroma: Deep fruity, loads of raspberries, red berries, almost meat like aroma, fresh squeezed fruit juice, earthy notes, dusty, fruity sweetness, the raspberries really come through, tart, funky, light vanilla, acidic notes. Taste: Fruity sweet, vanilla, malty sweetness, high fruity, tart, red berries, brett, funky notes, fruit juice, smoothie. nice!

22oz bottle. Pours a bright deep orange, almost ruby color, with medium pinkish head that vanishes quickly. Aroma is dust, basement and raspberries. Quite funky. Lemon and cherries as well. Not too sweet by any mean. Taste is moderately bitter, moderately sweet and acidic. Big fruity raspberry notes. Again, funky, dust and basement. Quite dry finish. Thin body and well carbonated. Really nice sour ale, almost a fruit limbic for dusty funky notes. Lacks a bit in acidity to me to be perfect.

65cl bottle. Pours orangey brown with a red hue. The nose has tart raspberries and what seems like oak tannins or maybe the tannins from the skin or it’s a bit like a cherry stone. The taste has tart raspberries and cherries with again that fruit skin or cherry stone note. The palate has a rich but very tight structure and this is continued through the amazing tangy middle and then a huge long finish. Overall, this is a beer that would work easily with food and is something I think the Flemish would be very happy with.
