COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lolita is a pink rose colored Belgian style pale ale fermented with wild yeast and aged on raspberries in wine barrels. Aromas of fresh raspberries, bright jammy fruit flavors and crisp, refreshing body make Lolita ideal for beer drinkers fond of Belgian Framboise.

750 ml bottle from Buy Rite, 8/27/15. Bottled June 2013, Iíve been sitting on this one for a bit. Orange color, with a slight red hue. The head dissipates very quickly. Tart, fruity, and pretty funky as well. The raspberry comes through pretty strongly. The wine flavor comes through nicely as well. Thereís a lot going on in this beer, but that whole combination really quite works. I thought for sure Iíd rated this before, but since I hadnít, Iím quite happy to add it to the database from this bottle. Really quite good. Itís been a while since Iíve had one of the GI sour / wild beers, so I had almost forgotten how good they are at these. Tasty shit, that about sums it up.

765 ml bottle poured into a Spiegelau tulip. 2013 vintage bottled on June 24, 2013. Clear golden orange/amber with half a finger of off-white head. Aromas of vinegar, red wine, cheesy funk. Tastes of dark fruit, cherries, berries, vinegar, tart acidic notes, light funk and oak, some red wine. Medium-light body with a dry finish. Very nice!

Pours clear, slightly rosy copper with a thick, though effervescent, buff head. Aroma reaches out and touches you from half a meter away, luring you in with sour apple, raspberry, and a hint of strawberry; a bit of malt and a bit of yeast rear their heads when you come closer. Flavor starts with a sour but not make-your-face-do-yoga sour core that supports raspberry, apple, yeast, banana and malt tones plus just a snip of hop bitterness. Mouthfeel pleases with firm, smooth body and lively, sassy fizz. Chase this wild goose!

2010: Sour cherry, stewed apple nose. Cloudy copper, headless. Oak and currant, slightly vegetal. Rose finish. Light body, easy carbonation, quite tart, but a little tangy at times too.

Smells of flowers and raspberries. Low but sharp soda like fizz. No head or surface bubbles at all. Goes down kind of like a sparkling wine with natural carbonation. Leaves the tongue feeling somewhat dry. Taste is all pit fruit. Like a combination of raspberry and cherry lambic, but not as sweet or sour as one. SInce the actual fruit used was raspberries, the most prominent flavor is obviously tart raspberries. If I had to briefly describe this ale to someone, I would say it tastes like a tart natural raspberry flavored white wine. Aftertaste is about ten seconds. It starts with pit fruit and ends with a bit of wheat/bread in the breath along with a sort of wine taste.

2011 vintage, 66 cl. Pours clear amber. Small white head fades instantly. Smell is rather sweet, raspberry in a jam form. Taste is mildly sour. Raspberry jam ( still very intense ). Slightly dry finish. OK mouthfeel, high side of carbo. Sourness is very straight, in stead of the complexity that can be found in the traditionally brewed Belgian variants. Still very nice though. But given its price ( especially to get it in Belgium ) Iíd stick to the originals.

Aromas of red berries, mostly cranberry and raspberry, crab apples, red wine. Orange-red with a fully fading head. Dry, sour, funky, fruity. Medium bodied, some spiciness, sharp, with quite a clean finish.

My Bottom Line:
Raspberries and brett turn to sour cherries and vinaigrette in this pleasantly acidic creation.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-There is no head of foam atop the cloudy red.
-Mouthfeel could be improved upon. Carbonation and body donít gel that much. Higher effervescence could work better?
-The dryness remains one of this beerís strengths.
-Acidity levels are moderate to high.

Bottle.
