You might think this is a Russian style girly beer (a little Nabokov for you), but instead it is a very sophisticated Raspberry Belgian Ale. Fermented with brettanomyces (the little guys who give us that tart zing) and fresh raspberries, this brew is bright yet deep with spices and edges of the fruits natural tart quality to give it a white wine kind of finish.

UPDATED: DEC 21, 2012 Bottle pour on a 90+ degree day....pour is a fairly clear garnet pour, with a very slight off white head that fades very quickly. Aroma is light raspberry fruit, lots of seeds, light plastic, hay, light lactic tartness. Taste is tart raspberries, lots of woody notes, more citrus tartness. Effervescent mouthfeel. Finishes fairly oaky and dry. Nice beer! ( EDIT: 2011 Bottle, middle one in the three sisters tasting. I think I like this even better than before, more raspberry seeds than I remember, which is something I really enjoy in these sours. Perhaps not as jammy, but more balanced. (

Bottle thanks to myknewcraft, thanks a lot Joey! Pours a clear orange with red highlights, no head hence no lacing. Nose is really fruity with raspberries sticking out but there is also some unfortunate (but light) nail polish that I cannot appreciate. There is also some light vinegar but that I can live with and even enjoy. Taste is nicely tart and lactic, or at least the acetic is under control and it is really pleasing. Flavors are of a nice red wine and raspberries, really fruit forward. Mouthfeel is vinous and the acidity is never too much, really fun to drink. There is some alcohol to be felt but it isn’t necessarily bad. Body is medium, carbonation as well. Overall this was really nice, the raspberries felt real and the acidity really well dosed.

Bottle. Almost clear deep red/brownish liquid with minimal white head. Aroma of red berries, barnyard, raspberries, lemon, apples and light vinegar. Taste is dry and light to medium sour with notes of raspberries, lemon and barnyard. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Nice stuff.

Pour is a cloudy amber with a cool tan to pink head. Aroma is tart almost all raspberry and brent yeast. Tart and refreshing with lite raspberry and tons of brent yeast flavors. It does have a crisp white wine like finsh.

Pours a hazy copper/amber, with a slight rose hue. Zero head and very little carbonation. No lacing. Aroma is nothing but sour and oak with an awesome balance of raspberry and citrus. Absolutely delicious. Mouth is the same. All sour and oak. Rediculously sour and pungent. A very rewarding treat.

765ml bottle via trade. Pours a deep pink/almost red with a white head that fades fast. Aromas of sweaty brett, raspberry jam. Smells tart. Flavor is medium tart and semi dry. Flavors of dry red wine, raspberry yogurt, cherry pie crust without the filling. Nice. Heavily carbonated yet light on the tongue. No alcohol detected. Finished tart and dry with prickly carbonation teasing the tongue. Pretty damn decent for a macro brew.

Sampled at 2011 RBWG. Pours clear amber with a thin tan head. The nose is white pepper and unripe fruit. The taste pretty much follows the nose with some light funk thrown in at the finish. Light prickly mouthfeel. Nice.

Hands down the best sour/wild ale I’ve had the pleasure of drinking. Beautiful cranberry color and fizzy. The flavor is so well rounded, not one dimensional. Refreshing, tart, fruity, awesome.

Nice aroma. A good way to end the night. Would have again for sure. Even better than Sophia.

Clear dark amber/red color with fleeting tan head. Bretty, dry hay, dry wood, raspberry, barnyard aromas. Light to medium bodied. Tart, dry, mouth watering flavors of fresh raspberries, funky fruity lemon, dry wood, wine style tannins____lingering dry, medium tart to finish----very tasty.
