COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lolita is a pink rose colored Belgian style pale ale fermented with wild yeast and aged on raspberries in wine barrels. Aromas of fresh raspberries, bright jammy fruit flavors and crisp, refreshing body make Lolita ideal for beer drinkers fond of Belgian Framboise.

Pours a hazy copper/amber, with a slight rose hue. Zero head and very little carbonation. No lacing. Aroma is nothing but sour and oak with an awesome balance of raspberry and citrus. Absolutely delicious. Mouth is the same. All sour and oak. Rediculously sour and pungent. A very rewarding treat.

Smells of flowers and raspberries. Low but sharp soda like fizz. No head or surface bubbles at all. Goes down kind of like a sparkling wine with natural carbonation. Leaves the tongue feeling somewhat dry. Taste is all pit fruit. Like a combination of raspberry and cherry lambic, but not as sweet or sour as one. SInce the actual fruit used was raspberries, the most prominent flavor is obviously tart raspberries. If I had to briefly describe this ale to someone, I would say it tastes like a tart natural raspberry flavored white wine. Aftertaste is about ten seconds. It starts with pit fruit and ends with a bit of wheat/bread in the breath along with a sort of wine taste.

2011 vintage, 66 cl. Pours clear amber. Small white head fades instantly. Smell is rather sweet, raspberry in a jam form. Taste is mildly sour. Raspberry jam ( still very intense ). Slightly dry finish. OK mouthfeel, high side of carbo. Sourness is very straight, in stead of the complexity that can be found in the traditionally brewed Belgian variants. Still very nice though. But given its price ( especially to get it in Belgium ) I’d stick to the originals.

Aromas of red berries, mostly cranberry and raspberry, crab apples, red wine. Orange-red with a fully fading head. Dry, sour, funky, fruity. Medium bodied, some spiciness, sharp, with quite a clean finish.

My Bottom Line:
Raspberries and brett turn to sour cherries and vinaigrette in this pleasantly acidic creation.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-There is no head of foam atop the cloudy red.
-Mouthfeel could be improved upon. Carbonation and body don’t gel that much. Higher effervescence could work better?
-The dryness remains one of this beer’s strengths.
-Acidity levels are moderate to high.

Bottle.

From notes on 3/7/15 Friggin excellent. Had no idea Goose Island made beers like this. Tons of raspberry flavor. Nice danky basement like aroma and taste. mild spiciness. Looks a beautiful ruby color in my glass.

“Lolita, light of my life, fire of my loins. My sin, my soul.” I am honestly disappointed that this isn’t with cherries & raspberries instead (I am sick). “Don’t cry, I’m sorry to have deceived you so much, but that’s how life is.” 2011 Vintage. 650 ml. bottle @ home. “Our imagination flies -- we are its shadow on the earth.” The beer pours a deep orange amber light red fruit, strawberry jam hued, head fizzes away very quickly. “You can always count on a murderer for a fancy prose style.” Nose is puckering hugely American, typical almost aspirin & stomach acid sour with puckering wild raspberries and strawberries, bottled lemon juice. “We loved each other with a premature love, marked by a fierceness that so often destroys adult lives.” Taste is puckering, light dry plaster, puckering aspirin USA, bottle lemon juice, hugely USA in its profile, lots of standard bacteria, light mold, finish is wild raspberries & light wild strawberry sweetness, lots of puckering strawberry, finish carries some dry cardboard. “I think it is all a matter of love; the more you love a memory the stronger and stranger it becomes” Too American really for its own good but enjoyable still. “And presently I was driving through the drizzle of the dying day, with the windshield wipers in full action but unable to cope with my tears.” Carbonation is prickling, strong bottle lemon juice acidity & very dry, cardboard feel to it. “She was only the dead-leaf echo of the nymphet from long ago - but I loved her, this Lolita, pale and polluted and big with another man’s child.” Interestingly the fruits reminded me almost equally of wild raspberries & wild strawberries only way sourer than the real fruit ever is. “And the rest is rust and stardust.”

Bottle. Berry tart aroma. Cloudy amber with some good fizz. No head or lacing. Wonderful combination of grapefruit bitterness, berry framboise, and deep sourness. Great balance, delicious finish. Stellar sour.
