COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
You might think this is a Russian style girly beer (a little Nabokov for you), but instead it is a very sophisticated Raspberry Belgian Ale. Fermented with brettanomyces (the little guys who give us that tart zing) and fresh raspberries, this brew is bright yet deep with spices and edges of the fruits natural tart quality to give it a white wine kind of finish.

Wow! First off, I think I liked this more than Juliet, which many might not agree with. Color is a deep red, but still translucent and clear. Aroma is of brett and oak. Can definitely taste the raspberries, very fruity, oaky. Brett really comes through in a good way. Nice tartness dries the palate at the end. Very nice sophisticated beer. Would be interesting to see how this ages.

Pours a red/bronze color, not much head, no lacing. Aroma is berries, grapes, and oak, flavor is the same. The taste is akin to a dry red wine. Very delicious beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a cloudy amber color with a moderate head that leaves great lacing. Mild scent of raspberries, wine, and yeast. Some of the taste reminded me of olive juice. Taste was smooth and mellow with raspberries, wheats, and yeast. Rich, creamy, and very delicious.

On tap at Madison’s. Poured warm, fiery orange with a nice cap of whitish head. The aroma picked up sour raspberry and oak upfront, with plenty of related funk to keep it moving through the nose.. engaging and excellent! The flavor held serve.. sour raspberry and oak throughout, with raspberry meat and complementary pale malts beneath.. again funky and engaging.. dry finish with oak, Bretty and lacto bugs, and more delicious raspberries. Medium-bodied and sour all the way through the palate.. excellent feel and flow.. loved it!

Vintage 2010: Bottled 12/04/10. 650ml. brown bottle many thanks to Pierre-Luc and Julien. Ale brewed with raspberries aged in wine barrels. Salmon-orange with a white head. The nose is very appealling with red wine (pinot noir) and strawberry. I very like this nose. The taste is wonderfull with wine, pinot, raspberry. There is some oak as-well. This is an easy drinking beer by it’s acidity. One of the best.

ACBF on tap. The sour of the show. Light aromas on the nose, but the raspberries really follow through on the palate. Sourness and acidity on the edges with a lingering raspberry finish. Should age really well.

Delcious freaking beer! Love the raspberry/cherry aroma with the tartness of vinegar, oak and spice. Flavor is sweet/tart with great acidity. Nice malt backbone. Greatness.

Slightly musty and very tart in aroma. The flavor is extremely tart and mildly sweet fruit. Very biting in the tartness, definitely not for everyone but this was awesome to me.

The only thing better than world class beers are free pours of them. After securing a generous pint of Vanilla Bourbon County Stout I moved on to the main attraction - Goose Island’s excellent Belgian influenced sours. Every year they blow me away even though I prepare myself for the great samples. This is no exception and one that should definitely be on everyone’s radar.

Aroma / Appearance - The rose gold body shimmered and glowed with life. A thin head sat above the top until the very end. Raspberries, Belgian yeast, and medium grade brett snap the senses into full attention.

Flavor / Palate - Light raspberry jam is followed by an intense sour aftertaste. Somewhat lighter than a Cantillon or La Folie it still manages to eat at the throat. In many ways it reminds me of Madame Rose - another world class sour sitting in my cellar at the moment. Perhaps I should open it this evening.
