4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 HighWine (511) - Elk Grove Village, Illinois, USA - FEB 28, 2012
Tap at Rick Bayless Frontera O’Hare Airport. Golden pour with a one finger white head. Lots of tiny bubbles in the glass. Sweet cereal nose. Taste is fruit loops cereal with coriander and a lingering hop bitterness in the back of my mouth. Full in the mouth. Nice, drinkable, beer with lunch.

Golden color with a small white head. The aroma is pretty fruity, with some pie crust and orange peel. The flavor is similar, and adds a lot of spices. The finish is very dry. Really refreshing and very tasty.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 drewaha (79) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUN 11, 2011
On tap at Girl and the Goat in Chicago. A nice belgian wheat. Aroma is bready. Taste is mainly citrusy. Very lite on the hops which I like. One of the best of this kind that I’ve had. Hope they start bottling and distributing this one
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 madvike (1479) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 17, 2011
On tap at Madison’s - Pours light amber with a ring of white head. Light coriander on the nose, lending spice to a sweet malt base. Light honey and dusty yeast. Taste has much of the same characteristic, with the light, dusty yeast and honey flavors mingling with the sweet malt, green tea, and some floral/citrus notes. Very interesting, and while not a beer I’d revisit too often, it was a really nice change of pace. Too carbonated--real sharp--but a nice body offset that a bit.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 1FastSTi (3000) - Glendale, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 18, 2011
Tap at Madison’s. Pours to a murky golden straw colored body with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet and hoppy with lits of Belgian yeasts and fruit esters. Some lime and tea. The flavor is very complex with yeasts, fruits, some light green tea, and subtle lime. Very well blended for as many ingredients as there are in this beer. The palate is medium bodied but very clean.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 durhambeer (2102) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - MAY 31, 2012
Well holy shit, not only can I get this beer at O’Hare, but it’s also served a Frontera where the prices don’t seem to be airport-mark up ridiculous. Poured into a Goose Island goblet. Pours golden with an orange tint. Barely a ring of white head. Nose of Belgian yeast, coriander, some gentle green tea notes. Taste adds a bit of sweetness and a somewhat dry finish. Solid, especially with Mexican fare.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Brigadier (1940) - Bloomington, Indiana, USA - AUG 17, 2011
On tap (guest)
Before going back to Lolita and Vanilla BCS I tried one more beer that didn’t quite stand up to the rest. Even so the price was right (free) so I ordered one with no risk. Another solid but not spectacular release this one was memorable only in that it was par for the course for Goose Island’s Belgian lineup.
Aroma / Appearance - Golden with a thin white head the thin sheets of lacing creep down the sides. White pepper, lemon peels, and an extreme citrus bite eat at the senses. Somehow the spices feel a little out of place in everything.
Flavor / Palate - Pepper, grapefruit, lemons, and carbonation idle on the tongue. Flowing smoothly towards the back of the throat it leaves a mark that lingers for a while. Despite being well rounded the parts somehow don’t fit together. Whatever the reason this nice release was overshadowed by other better taps.

Pours a brownish golden color with a large creamy off white head. Notes of citrus rind, herbs, spices, and candi sugar. Creamy mouthfeel and medium length finish. Almost like a belgian meets IPA. Interesting.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Pawola22 (2207) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 24, 2011
On tap at Revolution. Pours a very lightly hazed, orange-golden colored body with a finger-width, dense and creamy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is fairly fruity and floral. A bunch of apricot jelly, citrus with a nice lemon-grass, herbal tea, lime, some wheat and bready pale malts, clean hibiscus, a touch of yeast and pepper, and a hint of coriander. Flavor is similar with a bit more coriander and herbal tea sticking out. Lots of florals, bready and very smooth pale malts, some wheat, a light lemon-grass and lime, lightly spiced hibiscus, and a bit of a yeasty spice. Finishes with a distinct coriander along with a very smooth, bready pale malt sweetness and some apricot-citrus. Lightly spiced bitterness before leaving a medium length aftertaste. Medium-light body and very soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, a pretty solid beer. Lightly spiced with a nice floral fruitiness, some citrus, and pleasant herbal notes. Very smooth and soft with an easy drinking pale, somewhat bready, wheat maltiness. Nice one.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 brian60625 (261) - Illinois, USA - MAY 17, 2012
Tap at Fizz in Chicago. It’s foggy yellow and the foamy top gives off a sweet aroma. This is one of the better beers I’ve had from Goose Island. It’s herbal, veggie-like, and really spicy. The spice levels toe the line to the point that they’re nearly too strong, nearly artificial. I liked it though. It’s like a summer version of a holiday spice beer - cooler, lighter, and more refreshing than a holiday spice, but still loaded with flavor.
