The most enchanting thing about Matilda is her fragrance. It streams easy and effortless through the nostrals, igniting a rhapsody of aromas; cucurbit spices, coriander and earthy esters. Her tone is copper and honey with a cloudy aire. Her head, lofty and blonde. Sugar candy and old-world yeast combine in a malty colaboration, but ends rather hollow; apple pie without the nutmeg. The finish is were it is most absent. Close. It is so close.

(Bottle) Pours a lightly cloudy bronze body with a small off-white head. Aroma of cherry, earthiness (almost flemish sour), and spices. Flavor of cinnamon, corrainder, unique yeast qualitities, some fruit, mild hops; tastes a bit like it was aged in oak casks.

Thanks to Dickinsonbeer for sharing this.

Pours a clear honey amber with a fizzy white head. Cherry and oak aroma. Flavor of dry molasses with a bitter finish. Body felt somewhat thin for the style. Pretty decent.

nice dark gold pour with a thick gold head. lush aroma of banana, anise, corriander, yeasty earth, and shag carpet.a wonderful inviting sweet nose. nice flavor with a yeast dominance there are notes banana, apple, cinnamon, and a powdery flavor that wraps itself around my tongue. just right dry mouthfeel to go with this flavor a lingering fruit taste with some salty white grapes. some nice biscuit notes in this. some black and bell pepper is also present. a nice beer.

UPDATED: SEP 1, 2009 Original Rating, November 4, 2005: Hazy amber color with medium head. Outstanding aroma of yeast, banana and cloves. The taste follows in much the same vein, adding a generous dose of bread and malt. Maybe a bit of... citrus? Interesting and complex. 8/3/8/4/16 Re-rating, September 1, 2009: Cloudy orange color with a quickly falling medium head. Cloves, perfume, Noble hops and a bit of coriander on the aroma. Very bready, fruity flavor. Lots more perfume. An interesting yeast choice. It almost reminds me of Orval’s yeast and aroma, minus the Brett and tartness. Really quite good. Bumped Overall by 1.

Descent looking golden pour. Aroma of light fruits, flower, and yeast. Flavor brings out some of the alcohol, but moslty it keeps behind the curtains, very sweet, seemed to be a little cloying, but was actually descent on the palate. Overall not bad, not something to go of my way for though.

on tap at the blind tiger belgian beer event (american style). orangey amber color, slightly murky, little to no head. aroma is citrusy like lemon zest, a little sweaty too. also faint sweet malt in the background. flavor is dryish but very hoppy for a belgian, then some honeyish malt and lemon zest flavor in the finish. high carbonation.
