ilovedarkbeer (1326), Dallas, Texas, USA May 30, 2009 Damn good. Pours a deep orangey golden color with copper highlights and a medium sized creamy off white head. Notes of carmelized apples, baking chocolate, creme filled desserts, brown sugar, raisins. Just delicious, has some goose island flavor mixed with your standard Belgian tastes. CUJO (339), Brooklyn, New York, USA May 30, 2009 Peculier Pub: Goose Island does it again... pour is cloudy/ hazy... dark amber in color. Nice head, very light lace left on the glass. Yeast is readily available in aroma, roasted nuts, maybe dark chocolate, HOPS, light fruit. Medium carbonation goes well with the overall mildness of the beer. gunhaver (1024), Tampa, Florida, USA May 24, 2009 2006 bottle, courtesy TampaBrew. Hazy copper pour, cloudy, huge bubbles, sticky lacing. Nose is big on Belgian yeast, some oats and chocolate, some creamy notes, Little Debbie cookies. Sweet malts, nice oats, some chocolate and an interesting astringency. Sharp bitter, balanced, drinkable. bierslaaf (33), Cape Town, South Africa May 23, 2009 Hazy amber pour with small almos creamy head that left some lacing. Smokey spicey floral aroma that continues in the flavour. Sweet malty finish with floral notes. BOLTZ7555 (1053), Phoenix, Arizona, USA May 22, 2009 On tap @ Happy Gnome. Great establishment, by the way...crystal clear 24 karat pour with a fluffy ivory head that left subtle lacing. Aroma is all Belgian: with candied sugar, spice, and Belgian yeast. Flavor is quite sweet with hints of raisin, Granny Smith, and even banana. Somewhat thin but flavorful. Soonah (900), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA May 21, 2009 A 2009 bottle. The pour was clear and copper with a nice, but thin, creamy white head. Minimal lace. The aroma was malt, light spice and a bit of yeast. The flavor was more complex. Light funk or band-aid over the top of some citrus, malt, spice and yeast. Relatively thin body but in a smooth way, not a cheap way. Pretty dry overall. Good stuff. Lothore (276), California, USA May 21, 2009 A- Pours a sunset orange hue with tons of visible carbonation bubbles and a fairly thin, eggshell head.
S- Smell is belgian yeast, apple, clove, banana.
T- Taste is fairly solid and round, lots of light fruity notes, apple and banana complemented by a big malt backbone.
M- Thick with medium to low carbonation.
D- Even though i’m not a huge fan of the style, i enjoyed this one quite a bit. Very balanced and easy to sip on.
