Pwn3d (1040), Manhattan, New York, USA Apr 23, 2009 Updated: Apr 24, 200912oz bottle bottle sample at Peculiar Pub 4/22/09. Lots of tasty yeast, coupled with sugars and belgian spices, similair to La Fin Du Monde. Soft and silky mouthfeel makes this very sessionable. Far less aggressive than Pere Jacques, which I sampled before this but equally well crafted 3.95 thewolf (5635), Kolding, Denmark Apr 19, 2009 Bottle from LIVA, Kolding. [thank you, Feldthaus]
Pours hazy golden with a small, creamy, off-white head. Aroma has oranges, bready malts, some biscuit, green apples. Medium carbonation, fine mouthfeel. Flavour is lightly orangey tart, lots of biscuit malts, some hoppy, fruity dryness. Long, lingering, slightly hoppy aftertaste. Fine. gbdub (73), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA Apr 16, 2009 Pours hazy orange-amber with thin white head. Aroma is sweet, fruity orange; yeasty. Flavor is citrusy, fruity, with a pronounced cloves sort of spice. Doughy, banana/bubblegum notes. Relatively thinnish mouthfeel. Unique and pretty nice. nolankowal (850), Columbus, Ohio, USA Apr 16, 2009 2005 Bottle thanks to Moejuck. Aroma of light sour fruitskin, malt, yeast. Appearance: Poured a cloudy gold color with a thin white head. Aroma: The aroma was very spicey, with notes of orange peel and yeast. Very pleasant aroma. Flavor: The flavor was candi sugar and fruit. A very spicey finish. Palate: Medium/full body with softish carbonation and a silky mouthfeel. Overall: Glad to try one of the GI high gravity beers. I have a BCS waiting in my fridge. Gives me a lot of hope for it.
JaBier (1130), Capital City, Ohio, USA Apr 15, 2009 2005 bottle. Cloudy orange/copper color with a thin white head. Tart aroma with some yeast and fruit. Bretty yeast flavor and a bit sweeter than expected. mattmc1973 (300), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA Apr 13, 2009 12 oz bottle poured into a tulip glass. Color is clear light amber, with 1 inch frothy head. Aroma is orange peel, spices, and yeasty funk. Taste is some candi sugar and tart fruit, then a hint of sour and some barnyard funk. Mouthfeel is smooth and moderately carbonated. Interesting, not wild about it at first, but it kinda grew on me. yobdoog (1426), Woodridge NY, New York, USA Apr 13, 2009 Not too complex. Simple belgian. Almost like a triple, very good. Spice and sweetness balanced.
