3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12-oz. bottle, #0951, bottled 072705. Pours a hazy golden sunset orange with a lighter hay, straw hue where more light is allowed to pass, a small rocky off-white head with thick bands of lace. Fragrant aroma of yeast (earthy) and peaches aged in oak and some wheaty malt and lemony notes. Buttery hop flavor, moderately bitter and acidic that slowly fades, a yeasty body that tapers off and some light malt (meal) notes with a slight tart lemon finish. Medium bodied and fizzy, spicy palate.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pour is amber orange and slightly hazed with a nice big and dense off white head...some floaties...looks beautiful...smell is sweet and spiced and also has some sour notes...first it is sweet melons, canteloupe, honeydew, grapes and berries...some pepper and cloves coming in at the end to add a little balance...so far this beer is a delight...mouthfeel is almost chewy...very thick and coating...taste is something enigmatic...definately some nice bread and dough notes, with a nice strong bitterness coming in at the end...this is like an overly sweet Orval and is very very well done!!

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours orange and hazy with a white head. Yeasty and fruity aroma, hints of pear and apple. Flavor is nicely balanced, but not overly complex. The hop bitterness and spices are subtle compared to an Orval. This is a very good beer, but not a great one

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
hazy orange-copper body with orange-amber highlight, soft white head with minimal lacing, and nice and tight beading bubbles; medium carbonation, just a little bit chewy, and fairly dry; not exclaiming, but otherwise stating--floral spice or pepper, pear and apple notes, plain yeasty and maltiness, memory of some saisons; from looking at other notes, i suppose it’s reminiscent of orval; good, but not orval.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
I really enjoyed this offering from Goose Island. While not on par with top Belgians, this is definitely one of the brewery’s better offerings. I bought it, not really knowing a style, but knowing the brewery makes consistantly good, if not spectacular, beers. Pours a nice golden color with a medium head that is somewhat short lived. Good flavor, and body. A nice beer.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hazy pour that is all farmy mustiness and sweet bubblegum. Palate is a little light and medium carbonation. Flavor is layered and complex: malt sweetness and spice flutters open a revolving door that closes with a nice hop finish. This is a mature Belgian-style ale and nicely done, just not transcendent, or trans-Atlantic.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Shiny bronze color with pollowy white head which later leaves nice lace. The aroma is spicey and earthy. There is yeast and citrus and a bit of a belgian funk (barnyard). The flavor is active. It’s spicey and sweet initially. Light malts and a very earthy flavor come in. Realy complex horse blanket flavors. Fruity presence emerges on the tongue as active carbonation redistributes sensation. Sweet and spiced. Nice mix of flavors. Refreshing and smooth finish. Still quite active at the end. There also isn’t mix of bad flavors, it’s a clean sweet finish.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Taste is interesting. The nose is barnyard, apricot, citrus. A bit over carbonated, killing the flavor a bit. Color is a deep orangey-gold. Taste is heavy in the malts, with toast and spice. Decent, not fantastic. Finish is dry.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Opaque Orange Coloring with White Head. Dried Citrus Aroma. Dry Yeasty Taste to it...Thick Mouthfeel.. Dry Malt and Yeast Working with Citrus and Spice Makes This a Seemingly Simple Tasting, but Perhaps Complex and in any Case, Wonderfully Enjoyable Brew.
