Bottle. Pours orange and hazy with a white head. Yeasty and fruity aroma, hints of pear and apple. Flavor is nicely balanced, but not overly complex. The hop bitterness and spices are subtle compared to an Orval. This is a very good beer, but not a great one

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
hazy orange-copper body with orange-amber highlight, soft white head with minimal lacing, and nice and tight beading bubbles; medium carbonation, just a little bit chewy, and fairly dry; not exclaiming, but otherwise stating--floral spice or pepper, pear and apple notes, plain yeasty and maltiness, memory of some saisons; from looking at other notes, i suppose itís reminiscent of orval; good, but not orval.

I really enjoyed this offering from Goose Island. While not on par with top Belgians, this is definitely one of the breweryís better offerings. I bought it, not really knowing a style, but knowing the brewery makes consistantly good, if not spectacular, beers. Pours a nice golden color with a medium head that is somewhat short lived. Good flavor, and body. A nice beer.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hazy pour that is all farmy mustiness and sweet bubblegum. Palate is a little light and medium carbonation. Flavor is layered and complex: malt sweetness and spice flutters open a revolving door that closes with a nice hop finish. This is a mature Belgian-style ale and nicely done, just not transcendent, or trans-Atlantic.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Shiny bronze color with pollowy white head which later leaves nice lace. The aroma is spicey and earthy. There is yeast and citrus and a bit of a belgian funk (barnyard). The flavor is active. Itís spicey and sweet initially. Light malts and a very earthy flavor come in. Realy complex horse blanket flavors. Fruity presence emerges on the tongue as active carbonation redistributes sensation. Sweet and spiced. Nice mix of flavors. Refreshing and smooth finish. Still quite active at the end. There also isnít mix of bad flavors, itís a clean sweet finish.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Taste is interesting. The nose is barnyard, apricot, citrus. A bit over carbonated, killing the flavor a bit. Color is a deep orangey-gold. Taste is heavy in the malts, with toast and spice. Decent, not fantastic. Finish is dry.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Opaque Orange Coloring with White Head. Dried Citrus Aroma. Dry Yeasty Taste to it...Thick Mouthfeel.. Dry Malt and Yeast Working with Citrus and Spice Makes This a Seemingly Simple Tasting, but Perhaps Complex and in any Case, Wonderfully Enjoyable Brew.

2.3 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
Like a saison, extremely horse though recent brew. Some spice, cinammon, nutmeg, not much, pale colour nice amount of head, and foam at the bottom. Nice drinking, but you have to get by the smell. Do you think skunked in short time? Peppery, medium mouthfeel.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep golden. Light to moderate brett and styrians (light) aroma. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. Pretty good brett laced flavor, but Iím left craving a more aggressive brett character and more bitterness. I rather like this, but if your making and orvallish beer, why hold back?

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours an orangey copper color with a one finger head that fades to a spotty cap that leaves plenty of lacing.
Smell; slightly floral, a bit of orange peel and freshly mown hay.
Taste; spiced oranges, slight floral hops, and thereís an interesting funky/earthiness to it. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, but thereís a little to much bite in the carbonation. Overall this is a pretty solid beer.
