austone (999), Turku; Pori, Finland Oct 20, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Amber, staying & foamy light beige head. Lots of Budelse- like pear on the nose, caramel, very little spiciness, hint of chalk, raisins and licorice. Sweetish, peary and sugary flavor with licorice, faint aniseed, herbal bitterness. A bit alcoholic and stodgy, even mildly cardboardy. Medium bodied, round mouthfilling carbonation, slightly chewy. Very average, even bulky in the Belgian field. ciciorock (11), , Italy Oct 19, 2009 Bottle @ mondiale de la biere in strasbourg
Bellissimo aspettto e poco altro..al naso risulta poco intensa con pronunciate note di banana, toppo carbonata, dolce e mielosa, poco intensa e poco persistente. HOPSHUNTER (376), Tampa, Florida, USA Oct 17, 2009 Bottle. Poured like hazy apple juice with a thin orangish head. Nose is fruity with some spicy Belgian yeast and Brett notes. Medium body with soft carbonation and a somewhat oily mouthfeel. The flavor is slightly sweet and malty with notes of coriander, caramel, and candi sugar. Some flowery, fruity notes are also present in the flavor. Finishes somewhat dry and spiced. jjp31 (8), Maryland, USA does not count Oct 11, 2009 Pours a cloudy dark amber with a thin white head. I initially smelled faint banana bread, but it was quickly over powered by coriander. A drinkable beer but not my favorite because of the overwhelming after taste of spice. Jethro6191 (18), USA Oct 10, 2009 2009. Pours dark amber with a thin white head. Spicy clove aroma with a hint of banana bread. Crisp malt and a spicy Belgian yeast flavor. This is a clean tasting beer with a nice level of carbonation that cleanses the palate. SiRCRX (1), Warren, Michigan, USA does not count Oct 10, 2009 poured from 22oz. bottled June 10. 2009, a Hazy Orange/Copper with pillowey off-white head. Smell of fruits, sour grapes & spices, coriander and chamomile. Tart moderate body, with lemon, tart fruits & spices, nice funky finish. Well Done, enjoyed this! zvikar (413), Tel-Aviv, Israel Oct 8, 2009 pours an orange color with a small to medium head, aroma of honey and caramel with some barnyard notes and hidden scotch, flavors of toffee, vanilla, herbs and some kinky notes, medium to full bodied. Pretty amazing for this style. goldfish19 (33), Long Island, New York, USA Oct 7, 2009 ~ Purchased this 12 oz bottle from New Beer Distributors in Manhattan, NY. Bottled in 2009, this Goose Island Belgian-Style Ale pours dark gold in color with a decent head that dissipates quickly. The smell is of sweet fruits, yeasts, and some spices. Taste is the same.
Clean, refreshing, well-balanced, highly drinkable – this beer’s got it all.
Wonderful! ~
