Trev (850), Lakeville, Minnesota, USA Aug 16, 2008 Pours an amber colour with a large foamy off white head.
Aroma is initially candied fruit (orange), apple/pear upon closer scrutiny. An earthy yeast underneath.
Flavour is spicy and earthy, pear and orange peel fruitiness. caramel malt underneath.
Finishes with a clean refreshing tartness. No hint of it’s 7%.
Very nice. General66 (167), Streator, Illinois, USA Aug 16, 2008 I had this on tap at West End in Chicago. Came out in a trappist glass looking beautiful. It was a gorgeous dark amber color with a very frothy 1 finger width tan head. The aroma consisted of a lot of yeast with some fruit undertones. I wish we would have sat inside so I could enjoy the aroma more. The taste was very refreshing with a lot of sweet caramel malts and a lot of spices and fruit. Finished very smooth. I have heard great things about this beer and definitely believe what I have heard. An excellent brew! LinusStick (1831), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 15, 2008 A delicious and spicy Belgian. Aroma was nice. Starts out very yeasty and fruity but as it warms smells like Sea Breeze and band aids. Pour was a flat dark gold with no bubbles or head. Taste was delicious. Strong spices and yeast on the sides of the tongue with sweet apple, pear and orange peel on the back of the throat. Crisp and refreshing. This tastes and smells like a Jolly Pumpkin beer. sstackho (249), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 9, 2008 Updated: Aug 17, 2008Draft at Goose Island Clybourn brewpub. A clear light gold, little head or carbonation. Light yeast aroma. Flavour is rich, sweet, but not overly sweet. Lightly spiced. Medium bodied. Some light hops as it goes down the throat. Not as complex as I like my Belgians.
