LoveBelgians (1), USA does not count Mar 25, 2008 I was lucky enough to bump into this beer while stuck at O’Hare in the snow. The aroma is fantastic (a soft spiciness) and makes you linger in the glass and is a good example of why glass choise is important. I also found the appearance to be excellent - the nice deep orange color has a comfortable suggestion of warmth to it. The flavor was very nice, complex enough to make you have another and no overwhelming alcohol taste. This does not reach the heights of some of true Beligans, but all in all a very good imitation. juiceisloose (644), Windermere, Florida, USA Mar 24, 2008 Courtesy kmeves. This one poured a dark amber orange color with a medium sized white head that leaves a thin lacing around the glass. The aroma is of citrus fruits and hops along with some caramel malts and a unique bready yeast smell. The flavor follows suit with the citrus fruits mixing with some sweet caramel to go with a bready yeast flavor and a dose of hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a good dose of carbonation that leads to a sweet dry finish. This is a solid belgian ale all the way. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA Mar 22, 2008 Citrus aromas off this golden Belgian ale with a decent white head. Fruity and spicy aromas too. Clove on the flavor with a malty, yeasty finish. Not too much alcohol on the flavor. Pretty good. bbrock81 (218), Le Mars, Iowa, USA Mar 21, 2008 This beer is all about the aroma. As willblake said below, the aroma of this beer is a knockout. There is sweetness from the malts, flowery perfume, a note I can only describe as a fresh outdoorsiness, some spicy yeast, and lightly citrus hops. Absolutely top-notch. Everything else about this beer is secondary to the aroma, and cannot quite live up to it. The appearance is bright orange, with rough carbonation and a small, quickly dissipating head of fat bubbles. Flavor is a fair bit more muted than the aroma, being largely sweet and malty, with some yeastiness and some sweet fruitiness, and no hop to speak of. This is very good beer; the flavor is about average but the aroma is absolutely outstanding. Beerlando (2286), Orlando, Florida, USA Mar 20, 2008 2007 vintage. This is truly an interesting brew. Pours a cloudy dark orange-amber color. A huge, rocky, off-white head settles to a thin layer, leaving nice ribbony lacing behind on the glass. The aroma is definitely Belgian inspired, but with a hoppy American twist. Big caramel malts and citrus hops are accompanied by a uniquely foreign, bready yeast strain. Smells almost like a Belgian triple crashed into a citrusy IPA. The flavor followed along those same lines, with notes of orange and peach running into sweet, yeasty dough and various sweet, pale malts. There’s definitely some cream in there as well. Finishes short and fairly clean. The substantial body is smooth but slightly cloying. This brew gets points for originality, but the execution isn’t out of this world. Solid beer, but not exceptional. shanepardue (107), Raytown, Missouri, USA Mar 20, 2008 Excellent fruity flavor. Thick amber color..light, thin head. Initial peach flavor. Good beer! Headbanger (1574), Aurora, Illinois, USA Mar 17, 2008 12oz bottle(’07 vintage)-An orangish-amber body with a small tight off white head and an aroma of yeast, malt, citrus, and a little hops. Taste of this light to medium bodied brew is of yeast, malt, metallic, and some hops. Goes down very smooth and is pretty tasty. Not the best Belgian but darn good.
800th rating lweiberg (89), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Mar 16, 2008 Super comfortable and cozy in the mouth. Smooth and creamy, easy to just keep hastening it down all morning long.
