Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.

Matilda is made with a rare yeast that suggests a fruity and spicy flavor. There is complex maltiness balanced with a profuse amount of hops.

Bottle. Cloudy orange-copper body with a small, white, creamy head. Aroma of vanilla sugar, peach, apricot, and cookie dough. Sweet caramel flavour along with herbal hops, vanilla sugar, and cookies. Quite nice.

12oz, 2006 vintage, consumed today... meh, not that great, but the yeast has faded quite a bit making me happier, however there isnt much going on here, just a bland easy sipping ale, definitely dont see how this would hold up for 5 years as the bottle indicates.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a slightly hazy light amber color with a small, dense white head that leaves good lacing. The aroma suggests sweet malts, yeast, fruits (citrus, aplle, cherry), leather, and spices. The flavor tended to the funky side with medium sweetness, fruits (same as the aroma), and yeast. Not bad, although I am unlikely to revisit this.

This 2006 bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a hazy very softly carbonated dark orange brown colored body and a fair lacing. The aroma was musty fruity and farmhouse. The crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The mild flavor contained notes of mild fruit hops caramel and dough.

12 oz. single from John’s Grocery (Iowa City, IA). 2007 Edition. Poured a hazy dark honey-esque gold with a thick offwhite head. Aroma is slightly sweet and yeasty with that nice spiciness. Initial taste is a bold alcohol infused fruitiness that is garnished with some nice spices. The alcohol is a bit much, but the taste is still there with a dry finish. Sweetness that is heavy in alcohol is my main point here. Ok. Would rather drink the Pere any time!

Had to drink this in plastic. Im not sure I should rate it, but I dont want to forget. Its a pretty strong beer that pours gold and smells of spices. Creamy and malty texture balances it well.

very very fruity nose, with some spiciness as well. Very thick, very creamy white head, that seems to lace almost like soap. flavor is sweet, fruity, but spicy as well. Lots of malts to be sure but really no noticeable hop finish. It does actually finish rather dry though. Not a bad beer. Just bought a single bottle. may try again.

(Bottle) Pours a clear and dark golden color with only a small amount of white head. Aroma of sweet malts and light fruits. Taste includes a lot of apple, with some yeast and light malts as well. Average mouthfeel and palate. Easy to drink as well. This beer is all right, but I wasn’t overly impressed either.
