Commercial Description:

Ingredients: Water, Styrian and Saaz Hops, 2-Row Barley and Caramel Malt, Yeast and Granulated Beet Sugar.
Matilda is made with a rare yeast that suggests a fruity and spicy flavor. There is complex maltiness balanced with a profuse amount of hops.

Bottle sampled with Stegosaurus, courtesy of an ohio dad trade. Cloudy orange pour with tiny head. Bread, spice and malt aroma. Taste was good but it was mising something. It fell a little flat for me. Not a bad brew but no WOW factor !

Cloudy dark golden amber color with a massive frothy head. Spices, yeasts and some malt in the nose. A crisp citrus flavor struck me first , followed by some fruit. Ample amount of carbonation with a somewhat hoppy finish. Very different for a belgian. Very nice

Hazy orange color, good off-white head. Horseblanket, citrus, yeast and mango in the nose. Citrus estery, fruity sweet flavor with some yeast. American adaption of Belgian blonde., maybe they are trying to copy Orval? Good effort but not really match to its archetypes..

Bottled. Cloudy golden, creamy head. Orangey yeasty nose. Sweet and mildly malty with medium body. Creamy and fruity with well blended flavours of apricot, vanilla, pine needles and perfume.

2006 Bottle, thanks Santa (06). Pours out a slightly hazy light orange color with a good sized fluffy head. Aroma of spice and yeast, slight citrus. Taste is smooth still with a good amount of carbonation. Flavor comes together well with light citrus, yeast, spice and some grassy/bitter notes on the finish. Would have again

Very nice beer, crisp and clear. I like the sweet flavor present in many Belgian beera but this one doesn’ leave an unpleasent aftertaste that some stronger ales can do. It’s a little like duvel except it has a cleaner flavor. The hops aren’t too biiter.

(Bottled) Opaque orange with a large, foamy head. Slightly tart aroma with yeast and pale malts. Slightly alcoholic flavor with yeast, lavender and lemongrass. Medium-bodied, slightly thin palate with foamy carbonation. A reasonably enjoyable, but not very interesting brew.

I really like this. It’s effervescent and spicy and has a pleasant flavor throughout. The hops really give it an extra bite. Great.
