| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jul 16, 2009 Pours a light gold/amber color with a pillowy taupe head that lasts well. Nose full of beautiful floral, oaky hops, and yeasty malts. Palate is smooth, coating the tongue in charred oaky malts, a hint of hops for accent, caramel, and toast. Gorgeous beer to the last drop. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 14, 2009 12oz bottle, 2009 vintage. Pours a cloudy dark orange with some thin off-white lacing. Aroma is lively, with spices, hops, citrus, and caramel against a very tart yeasty/malty canvass. Taste is fairly full, with an initial flavor of caramel and malt giving way to a long and astringent flavor of hops, warming alcohol, and lingering spices. I’ve had this one before and recall it as more complex and mellower -- perhaps it really does age nicely? Even still, this is a very solid Belgian. randolphjj (96), Raymore, Missouri, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jul 14, 2009 Sweet malt, but it balanced well with a bitter back. GREAT esthers from the yeast. Gorgeous orange / copper color with a nose that’s as nice as I’ve ever enjoyed. hellbilly (1515), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA

hazy copper-ish rusty amber with a small off white head and lots of drippy trails of lace.
it smells slightly tart...like grapes mixed with piloncilla sugar, spice, flowers, orange, yeast and malty sweetness.
the flavor initially reminds me of the gum you used to get as a child with the baseball cards!... so, bubblegum, dried grapes (intensified sweetness yet still a bit tart), warm earthy cinnamon-y spice, belgian-like yeast and pale malt sweetness with a dry finish.
the body is medium though it is light enough to drink a lot of. tart fruitiness keeps me coming back... 7/4/7/4/15/3.7
