3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Beautiful deep orange body with a lasting tan head. The inviting aroma reminds me of spicy banana bread. I can sense cloves, cinnamon, and of course banana. Medium-full mouthfeel, very smooth. The flavor is sweet and spicy and warming. The malt and banana notes supply the sweetness while the cloves and cinnamon add the spice. Finally, there’s a nice alcohol warming. Very good beer!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
765 (???) ml bottle intermittently into a tulip. Figured I’d give it a shot as the few Goose Island products in province seem to be in the midst of being delisted (with sizeable price reduction!) at the provincial store. Pours a transluscent golden colour, with quickly dissipating fluffy white head. Yeasty, citrus nose with a bit of barnyard funk. Slightly spicy favour, and a bit tart, with a dry bitter finish. Medium bodied, with lively carbonation. Complex and interesting.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Sept 2014 bottle. Copper/orange body with a huge off-white head which dissipated slowly. Aroma is tart green apple, pear, subtle lemon, leather, white pepper, and a little barnyard funk. Appropriate carbonation, quite effervescent with some lingering dry sweetness. Very light bitterness, surprisingly sessionable. Top notch.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Goose Island Matilda Belgian Style Pale Ale has a medium, off-white head, a bubbly, brilliant, deep-orange appearance, lots of larger and powdery gray-white sediment roiling about, and a bit of lacing left behind. The aroma is of sugary, bready, sweet, horse blanket, with some citrus aspects. Taste is of those elements, with some white pepper and fairly bitter hop spicing. Mouthfeel is medium, and Goose Island Matilda Belgian Style Pale Ale finishes champagne-like, flavorful, and not boozy. Smooth stuff. RJT

16.5.2014. Aroma of strong raisin, yeast, sth like cider, brown sugar. Taste is similar, even stronger. Way too much raisin for, it tasted like it was not ok but I think it was as it should be.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
2012 enjoyed in 2015. Deep orange copper with fluffy slowly fading head. Definitely smell the brett, very tart apple with other funky notes. Very funky, spice notes, past ripe citrus, fermenting dough, old biscuits. Interesting. Lively carbonation. Very dry finish. Palate very similar to a dry champagne.
