Pour out of 12 oz bottle, dark brownish pour with white head, aroma has notes of caramel, toffee, hints of slight nuts, hints of spice, earth, slight chocolate powder. Taste is a nice mix of slight cardboard, chocolate, hints of vanilla, toffee, hints of rye, finishing fairly bitter, rye in there, slightly dry.

It seems to me that maybe they were trying to switch things up by making a lighter-than-usual winter beer with this one? Itís not bad. Lots of aromas on the nose, hints of toffee with roasted malts. The flavor isnít as robust as typical holiday brews and to me that kinda bums me out a little bit. I like big robust beers when it gets cold outside. Nevertheless, this is a decent brew and Iíd say maybe even a good winter session beer.

Dark mahogany color with creamy head. Light roasted malt aroma, roasted nuts. Some flavor of roasted malts, caramel, earth; correct bitterness.
Nice but expected.

Tap. Brown pour with tan head. Smells of roasted malts and toffee. Tastes of toffee and caramel. Slight bitterness on the finish. Not bad but not one of my favorite dark beers.

Dark pour with a decent mouthfeel. Very mild aroma of chocolate malt, and heavy cereal. Taste adds heavier chocolate character and even more grain. Pleasant, but not inviting. Not terrible.

12oz bottle poured into a tulip glass. Slightly hazy brown with some red hues and a medium off white head. Dark caramel aroma, chocolate covered raisins, grassy hops. Flavor is rich with sweet malt, port-like fruitiness, medium bitterness and pleasant roast. Medium body, nicely balanced, long finish, satisfying. Nice.

The aroma is grainy with light toffee, chcolate, paper, and resin hops. The appearance is brown with a foamy head. The taste is like the aroma with the addition of earth and spice. The palate is smooth from carbonation. Overall this beer tastes cheap and doesnít work very well for me but is drinkable.

Bottle. Copper colored, clear, thin head. Very mild, some sweet caramel aroma, lots of carbonation. Overall okay but not one to seek out.

Pours a rich black-sable with a thick and rather persistent tan head. Aroma has a core of roast malt with hints of cloves and caramel. Mainly malty flavor has smoky and woody hoppy notes plus a hint of cloves, none too strong. Texture is the weak point, being a bit watery and not too fizzy. Still, a decent winter ale, worthy of at least a try.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly lasting. Body is dark amber to medium brown. Aroma is moderately malty (cookie, toasted grain), with notes of grape juice, cinnamon, dirt. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter, slightly unclean. Medium to full body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Cheap and clunky smelling, kinda dump bucket-like. Somewhat dirty aftertaste as well. Not very enjoyable.
