Tap. Brown pour with tan head. Smells of roasted malts and toffee. Tastes of toffee and caramel. Slight bitterness on the finish. Not bad but not one of my favorite dark beers.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark pour with a decent mouthfeel. Very mild aroma of chocolate malt, and heavy cereal. Taste adds heavier chocolate character and even more grain. Pleasant, but not inviting. Not terrible.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle poured into a tulip glass.
Slightly hazy brown with some red hues and a medium off white head.
Dark caramel aroma, chocolate covered raisins, grassy hops.
Flavor is rich with sweet malt, port-like fruitiness, medium bitterness and pleasant roast.
Medium body, nicely balanced, long finish, satisfying. Nice.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
The aroma is grainy with light toffee, chcolate, paper, and resin hops. The appearance is brown with a foamy head. The taste is like the aroma with the addition of earth and spice. The palate is smooth from carbonation. Overall this beer tastes cheap and doesn’t work very well for me but is drinkable.

Bottle. Copper colored, clear, thin head. Very mild, some sweet caramel aroma, lots of carbonation. Overall okay but not one to seek out.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a rich black-sable with a thick and rather persistent tan head. Aroma has a core of roast malt with hints of cloves and caramel. Mainly malty flavor has smoky and woody hoppy notes plus a hint of cloves, none too strong. Texture is the weak point, being a bit watery and not too fizzy. Still, a decent winter ale, worthy of at least a try.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly lasting.
Body is dark amber to medium brown.
Aroma is moderately malty (cookie, toasted grain), with notes of grape juice, cinnamon, dirt.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter, slightly unclean.
Medium to full body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic.
Cheap and clunky smelling, kinda dump bucket-like. Somewhat dirty aftertaste as well. Not very enjoyable.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 7/20
A solid offering, though I find it lacks that bit of "bite" that I like to get from a rye beer. Good mild beer as the name suggests.
