Bottle. Amber with a thin off white head. Light spicy rye aroma with some light sweeter notes. The flavor is well balanced. Rye notes are up front, but donít dominate. A light caramel sweetness, with some nice spicy hop notes. A very solid sessionable winter seasonal.

On tap at Clybourn and had a bottle back home. The rye really does add a nice flavor. Everyone should give this beer a go.

Biggish offwhite head. Deep brown body. Deep earthy malty aroma with peanuts and straw notes. Vivid and clear. Dry-sweetish strawy grainy earthy caramel taste with chocolatey notes. Rounded, smoothish mouthfeel. Fullish body. Dryish earthy roasty peas and wood aftertaste with caramelly notes. Excellent! (0.355l bottle, ?, CPH.)

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly lasting. Body is dark amber to medium brown. Aroma is moderately malty (cookie, toasted grain), with notes of grape juice, cinnamon, dirt. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter, slightly unclean. Medium to full body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Cheap and clunky smelling, kinda dump bucket-like. Somewhat dirty aftertaste as well. Not very enjoyable.

Bottle 355 ml
Aroma: toasted waffle, malty aroma, light roast. Pleasant warm sweetness of rye. 7+
Appearance: Slight haze, amber-brown. Brownish beige top.
Palate / Taste: Medium bodied. Roasted barley, slight tartness with slight sharpness to palate. Dry metallic malt roast. Softer rye accented finish. This one did not do much to please me.

Bottle to pint. Looks good; a semi-transparent brown with off-white lacing. Smells of caramel malt, dark fruit, and dough. Tastes like it smells with a nice rye tingle. A decent winter ale.

Tap at Clybourn and served in a MBA pint glass, My #100 Goose Island rating!

Coppery to deep brown hue with a small lasting frothy off-white head and very good lacing. The aroma has notes of caramel, rye, papery and chalky oxidization, hint of apple, and spicy hop vapours. The taste is twangy acidic fruits and snappy rye bread. Some grassy and herbal hops balance the palate. The finish is part bread and allspice. The mouth feel is lively and sharp, very refreshing. Outside a weak nose this is a very good brew.

Bottle courtesy of CanIhave4beers. Pours brown with a thin white head. Smells of rye, roses, some earthy hops. Tastes sweet with some nice rye elements and a hint of bitterness on the finish. This would definitely be one of my go to beers this time of the year if I had access.
