Tasted in a snifter, small amount poured. Smells: Caramel prominently, with hints of Roasted malts Coloring: Deep amber with a vanilla colored head that dissipates relatively fast, especially for being in a tulip. Taste: Caramel flavors with hints of Rye. A nice Roasty finish. a swish brings out a very Creamy mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nothing too fancy here. Solid, very drinkable, and strong enough. The rye adds a nice touch.

On tap @ pony bar. A nice brown hue almost totally clear an nice off white head that had some retention and not much lace. Aroma had a big malt note upfront mild roasted notes and a nice nutty quality. Some spice notes were present. Flavor had good balance between the nuttiness and the roasted malts. There was a slight spiciness in the aftertaste. Full bodied with a dry finish.

I picked this up at Foremost Liquors in my neighborhood in Chicago, IL; enjoyed after an especially crappy day at work. This stuff is just what I needed! Aroma of chocolate malt, somewhat bready, I’m reading rasins in the descriptions and I can buy that. Appearance is a rich amber / toffee with a thin white head. Taste is very smooth, somewhat sweet, captures the season very well, creamy, it’s got roasted malt and a toffee flavor. Another great one from Chicago’s best brewery!

35,5cl bottle, Kaisla, Helsinki. Poured dark copper color with a nice head, long lasting lacing. Hops and caramel in aroma. Flavor is caramel, coffee, smoke notes and fruits. Quite long finish with some coffee notes. Really interesting beer, drinkable and tasty.

Brown with white head. Light grainy rye and toffee aroma. Similar taste with a bit of a sour mash rye finish. This beer is medium body dark full of flavor and low alcohol, I want more.

Bomber from binnys. Pours yellowish with little white floaties in it. White light head. Lemon hoppy aroma. Slightly bitter, aggressive but smooth hops, fruity citrus and refreshing lemon taste. Delicious

This pours a medium brown color with a foamy, beige head. The aroma is very malty with some spices. The taste is pretty good as it’s not too strong or too weak. It’s slightly sweet with malts and caramel as well brown sugar. It has a little bit of a robust taste as well. This makes for a pretty good winter brew!

bottle-pours deep mahogony with a small fizzy slightly soapy eggshell head somewhat darker maybe. some decent lacing from the start as well. nose is slightly nutty, slightly wet/mushy malt husks, lite dark spices, herbal qualities. flavors are slightly nutty, grain husks (rye and dark malt), lite spice hops, and some nice dry notes from the rye. leaves a very dry finish due to the rye. this adds a very nice touch to this pretty simple beer. the palate was a bit on the fizzy side, something i dont really care for in a beer but it seems to work here, accenting the nuances of the flavors in this beer. Another winner from GI!

Tap at RNH- one of my other favorites of the night. Pours a mostly clear woody copper with a thin lasting head and nice lace. Aroma is a nice big fully nutty brown and rye malts, moderate caramel sweetness, earthy tones, big warming biscuit and light fruity esters. Flavor is doughy, clean spicy zesty rye malts, toast, light fruits, caramel, lightly bitter in the end- mostly clean and fairly full body- I like it !
